That surprising to me as I’m the exact opposite. The Carrie remake was a miscast, but I thought she’s been great in about everything else (horror related). Especially Let Me In.

As much as I like her as an actress, I wasn’t too keen on those horror remakes she was in... not particularly her fault but made me appreciate the originals more.

I really, really did not like Let Me In. Mostly because the entire movie felt like exactly what it was. A cheap, bad remake. The original (Let The Right One In) is amazing in tone, acting, story, and climax.

She's unconvincing in horror roles, and in general her performances feel symmetrical in all of her movies to begin with. At least to me.

This morning I caught the second half of Don’t Breath on tv and I totally forgot about the turkey baster of jism stuffed in the guy’s mouth... I wish I had seen this in a crowded theater just to hear people’s reactions

I recall hearing a "Oh god damn, no she fuckin' dint!" When I saw it in theaters. Took me out of the movie but it was a good laugh.

I saw don't breathe in theaters and I feel like I was in the minority of those who hated it but I feel like I had to suspend way too much disbelief to buy it so I was just frustrated

yeah i didn't love don't breathe, it wasn't consistently smart or trashy enough to really fall into either camp imo

Oh I was ripping it apart the whole time. SO many idiot plot moments I couldn't count. When they announced that he was alive at the end via a news report, I remember saying "That's it, i'm done" and I left to pee since I had been holding it the whole movie and no longer cared.

Haha, to each their own for sure! What I loved about the remake was how ambiguous they made the relationship between Owen and Abby. In the original, it clearly seemed as tho Oskar and Eli were friends and developed a relationship. I loved how in the remake it left that question if their friendship was genuine or if Owen was merely being groomed to be the next caretaker. That alone elevated the movie to me, (unpopular statement) making it as good as the original.

also, I loved Don't Breath because I felt it was a great balance of clever and shocking. oops. but I also haven't seen it since theaters.

Let Me In was to the original like how the remakes of Japanese horror films in the 00’s was, it just didn’t capture what made the original so great although it tried.

Way late, but I finally watched Get Out. Really enjoyed it but couldn't help but feel let down by all the hype for it.

The simplicity and quiet eeriness of the original is too good. I hate knowing that many people think Let Me In is great when they never saw the original. It’s just so much better.

Seeing the massacre of bullies at the pool in the remake made me realize how much the original did it so much better.

Speaking of remakes, I’ve only seen the remake of Funny Games. Thought I was really well done but haven’t seen the original, probably because I heard the remake was a carbon copy. Years ago I made the mistake of seeing the American version of The Vanishing before the original. I wish I’d only seen the original.

The original The Vanishing is so horrifying. And upsetting. I won't watch the remake, and it's a shame there even IS one.

Yea don’t bother... considering it has a happier ending

went with a John Carpenter day at work today. Escape from New York, The Fog, and The Thing. Halloween wasn't on prime so i couldn't download it to my phone. Solid day though. My top three Carpenter films are probably Halloween, The Fog, and The Thing. Fog and Thing are close and idk which really goes second or third.
