Anyone see Happy Death Day yet? Thoughts?

 

I had fun with it. Don’t over think it, just enjoy the ride.

 

I think I'm gonna kick off Halloween with a Blair Witch night tonight. The original is one of my top five horror films and I haven't watched the new one since it was in theaters. Curious to see how I feel about it now. I was lukewarm on it last year, but the last twenty minutes or so were absolutely terrifying.

 

Wait, seriously? I honestly really liked the movie alllllll the way up until the final act, specifically right when the thing steps out from behind the tree. I let out the biggest laugh. The graphics were so dumb. The Blair Witch's whole concept and allure was that it was scary because you don't ever see an embodiment of her. The second I saw that shitty alien from Signs the movie was ruined for me. The ridiculous lights and then the characters saying "don't look at her don't look!" *looks*

I truly hate when a horror movie is good but they rush the third act or simply try too hard. Seems to be more often than not.

 

I am spending my lead up to Halloween the way I do every year:


SAW MARATHON

 

I honestly don't remember the graphics being bad but it's entirely possible. I'll look out for that tonight. And I was definitely in the same boat as you until Wingard revealed that we never see the actual witch in the movie. But what I dug about the ending was essentially the roller coaster ride through Rustin Parr's house. I'm 100% with you on not seeing the witch being the most terrifying thing about the original though. I have my own ideas of what she looks like and I don't want that taken away.

Jigsaw is terrible, huh? Had hope with the directors, bummer.

I haven't seen Jigsaw, but I just went through the series again and this is exactly my ranking. I was actually very impressed with how well the first three held up, especially the first, which I found to be next to perfect.
