  1. Finally got around to watching The Cure for Wellness and liked it a fair amount, though I get the criticisms. At the very least, the movie looks absolutely gorgeous.

At least the inevitable scene where one of the girls pees themselves will be a lot less degrading this time around

Just finished the Invitation. Damn, what a great film. Enjoyed it way more than I expected. Glad I went in blind for it.

Finally got around to watching The Monster. Creature features don't do much for me as far as spooks go but this was fine and more emotionally resonant than I expected. The monster kinda looked like a low budget chupacabra tho.

It's a Spanish remake it looks like. Not even the US ripping it this time.

  12. The American remake of Martyrs was almost the worst movie I saw last year.

I watched it a few weeks ago.

It Comes At Night was really good but I feel like I definitely need to rewatch it, very metaphorical.

has a very similar tone to The Witch where the tone of the movie is the scariest part and it feels like it's building the whole film and then just sort of ends. Not that that's a bad thing, in the case of The Witch my first viewing was the least satisfying because I felt like I was waiting for something for the whole film and that was distracting. The next few times I watched it I knew how everything went down so I could really focus on all the other content in the movie besides the plot.

If anyone has any questions I'll answer them, don't want to spoil it.

It was quite good. Horror films that deal with rituals or the occult, or just supernatural stuff in general, typically don't resonate with me very much, but this one ended u dealing with themes much bigger than the devices used to present those themes. I'd slap a nice 7.5 on it and say check it

Nice! I like stuff dealing with the occult (in theory). A yay from you and a nay from Joe. I'll check it out.

Man Vs was a nice surprise I randomly chose on netflix. I sort of love this genre of taking a reality show and turning it into a horror movie, Grave Encounters style. Don't watch if you're not ok with cheesy as fuck cgi.

I absolutely loved about 90% of A Dark Song. I think I could have done without the shots of the guardian angel, however. I don't mind that he was in the movie but in my opinion less is more and I don't think they should have shown him in full and for so long. Additionally, and this is more personal preference rather than film criticism as the actual ending allows for the main character to have an arc, but I was hoping for more of a horrific end and it was getting there and then it pulled back. I loved when she tried leaving the house the first time and realized she couldn't, stuff like that is terrifying to me and I would have been ok with her fate being trapped in that house. Lastly, the music was so good

It's been far too long since I've revisited 2 and 3, so I'm wondering how I feel about them now. Scream will always be a 10/10 though

"My parents are gonna be so mad at me!"

Something about that line, about the delivery and the visuals... that line has always been so real and so haunting to me. There have been moments growing up where friends and I did stupid things and I had that exact thought when that reaction - parents being mad at you - would really be the least of your problems. Some may find it cheesy or out of place (I hope not though) but that line has always captured one of the many things that makes Scream so real and classic - it's such a realistic and personal line.
