I was thinking of seeing it because of James Gunn but I read some reviews that said it's pointlessly reprehensibly gory, like a woman has to perform a sex act to avoid being murdered kind of reprehensible

I love the premise, but I think I'm going to wait until it comes out on home video

Been meaning to watch this, thanks for the heads up. No brainer when it was going to cost $5 to eventually rent it anyway.

reviews are looking very positive... i know i was just complaining about haunting films never being really innovative or insightful, but we'll see. hopeful, especially cause Shiri Appleby is pretty great and metal music is, you know, great too.

i really didn't like The Loved Ones, though, so who knows what reviews will really tell me till i see it. i mean, i still don't really understand why people DO like that movie. anybody wanna try to explain its appeal to me again?

Same. Without getting into specifics, it's worth a rental.

Man I've been watching a ton of promising 2017 horror trailers the last hour. The Void, It Comes at Night, The Devils Candy etc.

honestly are we in like a new golden age of horror? I feel like a string of horror movies this acclaimed hasn't been since the mid-70s to early 80s

2016 and 2017 have been fantastic years for the genre after a pretty long lull.

It's been a good few years. Coincidentally right as I started getting more into horror a lot of great stuff started coming out

we're getting movies now from people born in the early 80s that really grew up on this stuff (as well as the stuff that showed them what not to do)

prolly an influence. i really hope we start getting more film nerds into horror, too, get some real real pretty cinematography and bring back artsy shit we haven't seen much in a while

also, goddamn, your avatar makes me wanna rewatch Twin Peaks. my friend wanted me to introduce it to her but i've not gotten time for it yet. also not sure what my plan is on how to watch the reboot.

The Devil's Candy was very good. Ethan Embry is fantastic.

The ending to The Devil's Candy actually had my gf and me laughing at how absurd it was.

Agreed. I hated it. The movie was great for the first 3/4 of the film. Ending was absolutely pitiful IMO. They could have done some really cool stuff with this film, but did not.

I need to re-watch Henry but it's interesting to see back in the day Siskel & Ebert not only praise the film but defend it against the hypocrisy of the MPAA for delaying its release for four years
