Acolytes was... not good. besides stiff acting and dialogue, it made really very little sense and the story progressed in such a typical, uninteresting manner. still, it's cool that Joel Edgerton attaches himself to so many small projects.

I've written a Friday the 13th fan film, Kickstarter begins in the upcoming weeks. CJ Graham, Kane Hodder and Thom Mathews hopefully attached.

If there are any fans of the franchise, in particular the Tommy Jarvis arc, this should make you happy.

It's not canon and it's not anything where a profit could be made (we don't own the rights to any of the property) but still, the opportunity came up and here we are.

The Kickstarter goal will be $15,000.

Don't know how many people here enjoy screenplays, but here is what we're going with. There will be some SLIGHT revisions to any grammatical errors/dialogue/pacing/scene organization/etc...but the story itself is here.

Be gentle. It's good, but does need a bit of trimming in the beginning. I think it should probably start somewhere around page 3.5, when the group gets to the camp, not so much how they get to the camp.

I also think this is the first F13 screenplay without boobs all over the place.

Thanks for sharing this! Fun script; I hope it happens. Some quick notes:

I can see why you'd be tempted to cut the first few pages to get the story moving. My suggestion would be to do a cold open with the dashboard cam footage, then dolly out to reveal that it's actually playing on a laptop in the room, where Mark and Brian can have an abridged version of the existing conversation. That way you don't lose any valuable exposition but start off on a stronger foot to grab viewers' attention.

Brian seems to get drunk almost instantly. Beyond the logistics, I'd recommend dialing back his drunkenness (namely the burping) to avoid being overly comedic.

I'd beef up the final Jason/Tommy battle more. Maybe the injured Tommy tries to run away in the woods, Jason follows him, finds him, temporarily get the upper hand and almost kill Tommy, only to have Tommy get a hold of the machete and do him in as you wrote.

Might be a little too out there, but I think it would be cool to do a quick post-credit shot where Tommy has a Jason shrine and he adds the final trophy - his head - to the collection, as a nod to Jason's shrine to his mom in Part 2.

It's also worth noting that I handle publicity for several indie horror films (including the Crystal Lake Memories documentary), and I believe I could be of help when you're launching the crowdfunding campaign. Hit me up if you're interested. Either way, I look forward to seeing it.

    Thanks for the feedback!

This thing started out as a documentary style movie, like Grave Encounters, where there was a show within a show. The intro would have been a 60 Minutes style interview with survivors, showing the dash-cam footage just the way you've suggested.

I'm going to open on that, and then cut to the hotel room, for sure. So thanks for that.

As for Brian, he was drinking beer, then I was like wait, he got drunk awfully quick, so I put "booze" in his hand...but I get what you're saying. I do like that scene though, seeing Jason yanking away at something in the background is somewhat funny.

So the climax. I went back and forth on this. Do I kill off the best non-Jason character of the franchise, or do I kill off Jason? I had to make it "believable" and that wasn't very easy. If Jason gets his hands on you, even in the slightest, you're done. That's why I had Tommy hide and go from Jason's leg to get him down.

Maybe I should stretch that out just a little bit, but I don't want Jason getting the upper hand in the least bit. Remember, this is a 60ish year old Tommy.

I'm for sure going to contact you regarding the publicity.

EDIT: As for the ending itself, I didn't know if I should leave it ambiguous or not, I'm leaving that up to the director. I like the shrine idea, though.

No problem! Glad you liked some of the ideas I threw out there.

I think you made the right choice by having Tommy defeat Jason, especially if you get Thom to reprise the part. After all, Jason can always be brought back somehow.

Even if Jason doesn't get the upper hand per say, I think there should be at least a brief moment where the audience thinks Tommy can't do it, if only for one final jolt of adrenaline that pushes him over the edge. Just my 2 cents though :) I dig what you have here.

I get it, for sure. I'm leaving everything be until we get the Kickstarter to a place where this will become an actual thing.

Plot - a family from the city moves into a home buried deep in the New England countryside. Soon after moving in, an evil presence slowly tears away at the fabric of the family.

How close was I? I didn't look it up yet.

  25. You're in the ballpark. Takes place in Texas, I believe. I'm avoiding the trailer, but the description I read make it sound like it could be cool.
