Faculty is still great but my repeated viewing was probably Scream, and I had the unrated version on VHS

I decided to give The Last Podcast on the Left another chance and I'm really liking it. Anyone have any episode recommendations?

Holy crap!! I was actually going to come back on here and say after rewatching the Sinister scene a few days ago and I realized it wasn't what I was trying to remember (sorry @BirdPerson but I really thought it was!) but THIS is it! The Collector! Finalllllyyyy, I can sleep once again haha. Thanks so much buddy!

If anyone actually saw it, what did you think of The Collector? I think it was way superior than, and didn't enjoy the second as much as, its predecessor: The Collection. Its sequel was still overall a good watch though. Plus I love Josh Stewart - he is an awesome actor.

Glad the mystery had been solved. Man I haven't watched the collector in a couple years ...and I too love Josh Stewart aka Mr. JJ Jareau

edit: holy shit i had no idea: On February 27, 2012, Stewart went into cardiac arrest after contracting salmonella. His wife performed CPR for several minutes. Stewart now has an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator in his chest

  7. Late pass, and it's more of a drama, but We Need to Talk ABout Kevin...yeesh. One of the most unnerving films I've seen based on realism alone.

I've seen The Collection but not The Collector. Thought it was an ok Saw knockoff I think

I watched that years ago in the middle of the day and had to pause it half way through just to take a breather. Definitely one of those movies that leave a lasting impression on you. And props to Ezra Miller, who has since done more light-hearted fare (Perks of Being a Wallflower, Trainwreck... though he was in Stanford Prison Experiment). But I saw that movie a few months before Sand Hook. If I had tried watching for the first time after Sandy Hook, I probably wouldn't have been able to finish it since I grew up in a nearby town.

I felt the same way when I was reading Jodi Picoult's Nineteen Minutes. Just..."tough" isn't the right word. Digs right into you.

Just watched XX. Been looking forward to it for a while and it didn't disappoint. Some segments were better than others as is the case with anthologies, but there were no clunkers. Given the marketing, I expected all the shorts to have strong feminist tones and I'm glad that wasn't the case. I think that would have been pretty overbearing and tiring by the end

Saw Blair Witch tonight and went in without much expectations and it pretty much delivered on that. Some good claustrophobic experiences but nothing effective. And I actually remember liking Book of Shadows back when it came out, haha

Having just finished it about a half an hour ago, I'm finding myself thinking about The Box more than the others. The Birthday Party was Tales From the Crypt-esque, so I appreciated it for that, but I feel like it could have gone on a bit longer. In fact, all of the shorts seemed to lack a punchline. I'm still trying to decide if The Box gave us enough, for example. Don't Fall was pretty by the books, but it was fun. Her Only Living Son definitely had some meat, but I don't know that there any bone there, and everyone knows bone-in > boneless. The wrap around pieces were fantastic.

I've actually heard several people defend Book of Shadows. I'll have to give it a try sometime

I remember when the Blair Witch came out the book of Shadows guy was like "ha guess mine wasn't so bad now" or something I'm incorrectly paraphrasing and I'm like naw sit down yours is still worse

The Eyes of My Mother - Well shit, this was probably the most disturbing movies I've seen in the past handful of years. What's the most surprising about that is the fact 99% of the violence is off screen. There is one scene of sheer brutality but besides that, you see a person in a normal state, then a quick cut into that same person in an "altered" state. Besides the violent stuff, it looked beautiful for being black and white.

yeah, Southbound was quite good, although again slightly uneven. perhaps the key to anthology for me is a compelling frame narrative or set of themes to reduce how all-over-the-place a series of short films by various directors can be. Siren and The Accident were probably the best; Jailbreak was touching but ultimately felt underdeveloped, The Way Out was kind of neat but jumpy, and The Way In felt fairly typical and predictable. loved the soundtrack, though. great Carpenter vibes.

starry eyes as well, what a discomfiting movie. it didn't go the direction i thought it would (i was expecting a rosemary's baby sort of thing) but i think it made more sense in the end. a little uncomfortable with the treatment of harassment/assault, though. anyway, the creators really hate movie producers, i take it, haha. also the lead actress looked like this mix of Felicia Day and Jocelin Donahue, and it was uncanny cause i kept thinking it was both of them.

Just saw a trailer for the underwater version of The Shallows starring Mandy Moore. Movie will be terrible I bet, but I am SO disturbed by open water/deep water/can't see the bottom/etc that the trailer actually made me uncomfortable lol
