That whole shaman arc in The Wailing was nuts.

 

I watched the Wailing today and omg that movie is long. I liked it but I had to pause it in the middle and have an intermission. Now I'm watching Ouija 2 next!

I was showing my friend The Witch the other night, haven't seen it since theaters. I forgot how amazing this movie is. The scene w/Caleb, you know the one, is fucking haunting and so well acted...but we were v drunk and didn't finish it.

 

I just watched Green Room and didn't think much of it, honestly


sad too because I loved Blue Ruin

 

Same as my five but in different order and swap The Conjuring 2 for The Witch

 

Still need to see The Witch.

 

I actually watched it in two sittings, and it was probably better that way.

 

I watched it in two sittings because I have no discipline about browsing on my phone during a movie and so pausing the movie to read stuff made it run way too late the first night

 

I'm terrible sometime about browsing my phone during a movie. Esp the beginning.

 

I had to restart it like 5 times cause I kept forgetting to read it and looked at my phone lol. I'm the worst.

 

I just pause the movie while I'm looking at my phone, which breaks up the flow and can make a 90 minute movie take 3 hours

 

yeah foreign films can be rough if you've got a short attention span like me

 

it's why i'm trash at watching novelas cause I can't multitask when I do it

 

The Monster, any fans?

If so, anyone agree with The Babadook argument?

Alright, well there are theories regarding the happenings of the movie, especially the end. There are similar theories going on with The Monster, but I don't see it.

The mother and daughter relationship is heartbreaking. Shes an alcoholic that essentially hates her daughter. She's verbally abusive in ways that happen in real life, but you don't see too much in movies.

I'm a little late to the Blair Witch discussion but after rewatching it this weekend I still think it holds up. I decided to watch it twice, once with the director commentary and that didn't really do anything for me. It didn't really explain anything more for me in terms of understanding it more. Still a solid film and they did the best they could for a Blair Witch reboot.

 

Don't Breathe was ok. maybe it's because i came from Green Room which was perfectly minimalist and compelling, but i felt like DB was light on characterization for all except maybe Rocky . it also handle its deaths weird, in schlocky but not really enjoyable or interesting to watch. also the nihilistic rant in the middle is pretty lame. but overall it was pretty tight and well-constructed

 

Can we start looking ahead to the horror movies of 2017 that look good? I'm throwing my bid in for The Bye Bye Man, Annabelle 2, IT, and Saw Legacy.

 

A Cure for Wellness and Get Out look really good, but then again I haven't dug into the new year's releases just yet.

As with most years, the best releases have no publicity and are released at little festivals and then hide for 2 years.

Also, Saw:Legacy? Wtf?

 

They're doing another Saw movie because people wanted more of an explanation and story following the big twist at the end of Saw 7. I'm welcoming it.

I also forgot about the Ring sequel. That looks promising so far.
