Yep. Siren is a spin-off of the Amateur Night segment. I wasn't a fan.

  7. Is A Christmas Horror Story really as good as people say it is? I may throw it on tonight

I thought it was great. Not quite as good as Trick 'r Treat, but it does for Christmas what that film did for Halloween. Here's my review, if you're interested.

I don't understand how horror movies mess up some of the things that they mess up. I'm watching "Lights Out". This movie does a lot of things right, makes me forget some of the cheesier aspects. Some cliche character archetypes, but they're adequately acted, and more importantly the threat is present from the first scene. And then, some of the characters are eating pizza for dinner. One of them is washing dishes and another hands them their plate to be washed. That plate has an entire pristine piece of pizza that literally hasn't even been bitten. 1.5 seconds of offscreen wish-wash sounds, and that plate is in the drainer. No garbage disposal intervention, no nothing. Where the hell am I supposed to think that pizza went? #immersionbroken

Watched Willow Creek. Pretty good. Though obviously a huge Blair Witch ripoff, but with big foot.

Last night my roommates and I watched Krampus next to our freshly decorated Christmas tree with a snowstorm raging on on the other side of the window behind the TV. There was really no chance for it not to be extremely enjoyable

Also, we've decided to watch all of Tales from the Crypt together. They had never heard of the show until I showed them All Through the House, and this is my first time seeing a lot of these episodes, so it's really exciting

So if 1000 people watch the tape will there be 1000 samaras or is it just one apparition that's pulling heavy duty and has to go through this every time someone watches? like having to call every time someone watches the film seems annoying. this is probably a dumb question and will be addressed as I go further but I haven't seen this movie in a long time. is she an apparition until Naomi pulls her out? I should just wait and remember but I'm full of ?s!

It's my dream to make a horror short or something someday. I just think the concept of being able to instill fear in someone with something so obviously fake is incredibly fascinating. So I guess my question is, what is it that really scares you? 'Cause for me I watch things like Lights Out and The Conjuring and I view it sort of as a rollercoaster ride. I get on, have fun, and then I get off and go about my day, but I was never truly "scared". But then there are movies like Mulholland Drive that just irk me and really make me feel deeply unsettled. It's that shit that really impresses me. I guess I like feeling creeped out more than anything.

Samara(/Sadako) is a vengeful spirit doing all the killing herself

I feel like this answer is obvious and logical but for some reason her coming out of the TV throws me off. is she still a spirit at that point or is she like a solid person?

Edit: okay clearly she's still a spirit. see this is why you gotta watch movies all the way through. I thought I remembered more than I did and it confused me!

is some new lore introduced? cause if it's just the original logic wouldn't 999 of those people get cleared as soon as the next one watched? unless you mean not sequential watchers but instantaneous watching like in the same room in which case yeah idk figure it'd be one Samara operating outside of spatial and temporal logic hitting them one week later all over at the same exact moment.

actually also not sure what you mean by "Naomi pulls her out," you mean when she creeps out the tv or?

Yeah it got me thinking when Rachel was researching the deaths from her niece and all her teen friends from the cabin. They died really close together but not all in the same place/exact time like I think the niece died at 9pm and then some other friends died together at 10 pm so I was thinking does Samara have to take care of one and then when she's done she moves onto the next? I started overthinking I think lol. Maybe I should rewatch that part cause my ridiculous question wheels were already turning and distracting me.

yeah it's honestly really fun to get into nitty gritty details like that though, especially with j-horror where ghosts are usually more intricate but nebulous. when it doesn't just fall to plot holes, you get into some really weird and creepy logic exercises

Watched The Silence of the Lambs last night for the first time in a year. Nothing like being able to recite entire scenes.
