It's almost as if an adaptation...adapts things to fit from the source material. Not gonna lie I love that little Finn Wolfhard and hope he shows up in a ton of stuff in the future.

 

The reason people have problems is because of the reasons Fukunaga left. He didn't feel the script was right at all for the story and he didn't like what they were forcing him to do, things like make the story more hip. It's my favorite story of all time and I'm very worried.

 

I felt like the ending is what really sold it as terrifying

 

Currently rewatching Grave Encounters. I liked this a lot more than I expected to - pretty solid found footage flick that doesn't have a completely contrived reason for cameras to always be rolling.

The last bit startled the shit out of me but felt a little out of place. I don't know, maybe it's because of how everything was set up in the middle part.

 

I forgot about GE when we were talking about good found footage movies. That one was great and came out of nowhere (for me at least)

The sequel was ok

 

Same here - I don't remember how I even stumbled on it. The second one wasn't terrible.

I watched Halloween last night and even tho I've seen it a zillion times there were little moments that I appreciated a lot more, like the way there'd be a dark hallway and Michael's face would slowly come into focus and he'd be standing behind her. It's still effectively creepy.

 

Just watched Clown, that sure was fun -- though I didn't expect the child eating.

 

I kind of love how heavy handed the message in the Purge movies are.

 

Watched the Spongebob Halloween special today. Thinking I might be able to fit in some sort of spooky entertainment every day, even if it's just 20 minutes.

 

You should watch the Garfield Halloween special from the 80s. Scared the shit out of me.

Thanks but no, definitely not that. I've seen Strangeland and that movie came out years after the one I'm trying to think of.

I think I've previously said I'm not a big fan of the Halloween series but still intrigued on reading the novelizations of the first two films

 

I accidentally had an awesome Latino-filled horror weekend! I started the Exorcist TV Show which had my boo Alfonso Herrera (wild seeing him crossover lately!), then today I watched the Purge Election Year which had Joseph Soria and then I watched the season finale of Fear the Walking Dead which has all the Latino background characters who should just take over this boring show lbr. Get ittttt!

 

Sorry if this comes off as naive, but do Latinos love horror movies? I just remember reading that the Paranormal Activity franchise decided to cast a predominantly Latino cast in The Marked Ones because the producers realized Latinos made up the largest ethnic demographic market of the films before it.

 

tbh I have no idea. All the Latinos in my family do, but that's obv anecdotal. I do know that Latinos are one of the largest demos for buying movie tickets in general. I remember ppl being surprised that a large chunk of ppl who saw the Fault in our Stars (like 20% or something) was Latino!

 

Just got through season 2 of Scream. It was insultingly bad. Season one was decent, but this is just god awful.

 

i paid a stupid amount for the first Halloween novel on eBay, but was waiting until October to read it. thanks for the reminder!

 

I wasn't sure how much they're going for on eBay but found them at a paper show. $5 each so I couldn't turn that down.
