Wow, what a gorgeous movie. Absolutely stunning from start to finish

 

that being said, i didn't love it, y'know? I'm looking at my top 10 trying to decide where to put it and it just doesn't fit anywhere. this has been such a great year for horror, especially wrt films that align with my tastes. aside from TV Glow and First Omen, the ones in my top 10 are all so "fun." i love when films are weird and just fucking bonkers, and we got plenty of that this year. so no, my top ten hasn't changed.

I've only actually seen 12 new horror films (including Late Night with the Devil) in 2024 . Still need to get around to The Substance, Cuckoo, Maxxxine, Heretic, Speak No Evil, Immaculate and probably a few more but I'll rank what I saw:

@Aaron Mook i reworked mine to include both ISTTVG and Exhuma! it’s not perfect and i don’t feel great about it but it’ll have to do for now cause if i don’t go with it, i never will settle on a list

Debating whether Y2K is worth the $25 to buy on digital. Someone give me motivation since it has pretty mixed reviews.

 

Paying $25 for it when it’s about to turn ‘25 has to be a sign, right? Plus Trump is about to be president again, nothing matters anymore.

 

My filmmaking partner bought a copy via his Fandango Now account he shares with me so I don’t have to buy it but charging like $25 for a digital copy basically reinforces my belief that Hollywood NEVER understood why they lost all that money via rentals and home media and chooses to just be difficult and obtuse about digital rentals and purchases.

 

Bought a ticket to see Nosferatu tomorrow at 10am. We’ll see if I can actually drag myself out of bed to catch it.
