Any recs for the Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead pick? What's their whole deal, I don't think I'm familiar.

 

watch Resolution, it's their masterpiece

 

Seconding Resolution, especially if you're unfamiliar. Their deal is mostly complex cosmic horror of sorts, with a lot of the films having some tangential relationship to each other. It almost never fully lands, but Resolution probably comes the closest, and they take big, ambitious swings that I appreciate.

 

they're also great at mixing genres into a really unique blend (their second film Spring is like, body horror plus indie romance plus Lovecraft or something lol). really good at both the big weird freaky ideas and bringing it home with intimate emotional stuff, especially in Resolution which is just their whole deal in one. they've never made a bad movie though, imo, absolutely a duo to follow

I watched Coma (1978) last night. Incredibly cozy medical chiller with a very young Michael Douglas and Genevieve Bujold. Not enough medical thrillers these days, imo!

 

Not sure If I'm gonna be into that tbh but I'll check it out anyway. Doesn't look as fun as Lisa Frankenstein if I'm comparing romantic horror comedies

 

I am SO fucking excited for this. Reading the book last year was a treat and might be my new favorite King novel.
