this is the best year for horror in at least my recent memory. so many bangers this year

 

Possible spicy take but I liked Kathryn Newton more in Abigail than Lisa Frankenstein.

 

She’s great in both

 

Yeah she’s awesome in both but she just felt so iconic in Lisa

 

Watched the new quiet place

I haven’t seen the movie but it must be fake based on I’ve never seen the words cat and loyal in a positive way.

 

When I think of best years in recent memory, it’s always 2022. What a fucking year for the genre.

 

Okay but the real question is whether Dan Stevens is better in Abigail or Cuckoo

 

So anyway I was thinking, Longlegs isn't my favorite of the year, or even my favorite Maika Monroe movie, but if it gets people to check out her other stuff that can only be a good thing

 

Cuckoo, he falls apart in the end of Abigail

LF was a fantastic leading role for Newton

probably my top 3. not sure I could even do a top 5. I Saw the TV Glow was good but not exactly great. I’d say the same about Oddity. waiting on Cuckoo and especially Nosferatu to build any sort of top 5. it’s been a great year for horror tho imo

 

Haven’t watched a ton of horror this year but I Saw the TV Glow is by far my favorite movie of the year regardless of genre.

I really liked In A Violent Nature, and to a lesser degree, Lisa Frankenstein.

Biggest disappointment for me was Maxxxine and I also thought Late Night was pretty underwhelming although I still had some fun with that one, especially when things ramped up in the last 1/3.

 

TV Glow and Longlegs are neck and neck for me, both incredibly different movies with polar opposite impressions on me that I adored pretty much equally. couldn't ask for a better summation of what a diverse genre horror is than those

I also don't know if I've seen in anything bad this year really. found Romulus and Late Night disappointing but they were both still overall fine and I liked what they were going for. from upcoming stuff I'm excited for Strange Darling and the new VHS... yeah just a fucking great year lol

 

Oddity hits Shudder at the end of September also fyi

 

Still thinking about that one. Such a creepy movie. Definitely worth a watch.

 

Is there a list somewhere that tells when stuff is coming to it?
