idk I checked out after I read someone say it's only okay to critique movies like Beau is Afraid and movies with less complexity shouldn't be discussed critically at all. genuinely one of the most asinine things I've ever read

on another note watched Prometheus again tonight, still love it. the mix of gorgeous looking, ambitious sci-fi adventure and hard horror is just great. from we're gonna find god to oh shit, god hates us and we're all gonna die. literally my only gripe is it ending with the coolest setup for another movie ever which Covenant completely fumbled the bag on lol

 

I hardly pay attention to the movie threads now. I may post once or twice in them and then I'm gone lol

 

Disagree on Covenant but otherwise yeah Prometheus rules

 

Prometheus has aged so well since its release.

 

it's probably better than I give it credit for in its own right, but man as a sequel to Prometheus it's just the worst possible direction they could have gone imo. I remember seeing it in theatres and when I realised they killed Elizabeth offscreen between movies I instantly soured on the whole thing, just the worst decision

Underrated TCM movie

 

Somehow not surprised. Outside of the Stephen King thread, this is about the only place I post.

I don’t agree with every take here - and I’m sure that goes the other way around - but everyone in here is great by me.

 

I also stand behind Prometheus and for the most part Covenant. Fassbender is quite good in both and I like the ideas it sets up within the universe. It takes away from the mystery and creepiness of the aliens but it mostly works for me.

I really dig all of the movies for various reasons except Resurrection.

Right now I’d probably place them —

1. Aliens (Special Edition)
2. Alien
3. Prometheus / quite possibly Romulus

Will have to give it some time and see Romulus again but I was pretty happy with it despite some reservations with how it connects so much with one particular Alien movie.

 

Such awesome news to that we r gonna see Tim Curry back on the big screen again after so long
