Could you have gotten up and moved back a few rows? I'm kind of a puss so I'd have to fake going to the bathroom and then come back and sit somewhere new, but that's just me :crylaugh:

A lot of people I follow said it was just okay, but said her directing was good. It has 29% on RT if that says anything. But I’m still excited to watch it eventually.

Haha I definitely could have, but it was the principle of it! Sit literally anywhere else if you need to talk!

Mostly okay was what I thought about The Watchers as well. Super tired so I’ll post more thoughts about it tomorrow

I’m liking it less and less the more I think about it

Two deaths! The whole movie only two deaths and one is the intro!

never felt like they were in danger, arbitrary rules were introduced and broken and actually didn’t matter every time. One guy suddenly locks them out for no reason? The moral is rules are good? The dead mom story was so weird and forced to connect to the rules thing, it was so clear they had no connection otherwise so they through that in last minute. They were supposed to be safe in their little coop until actually they weren’t and the watchers just busted in, and they find a secret tunnel that wasn’t locked or anything, they can’t open that door for some reason? And then the only other death happens because someone just forgot everything? I predicted the “twist” too and it was so unsatisfying. What is their goal? What’s the point, the plan? No motivations of any character ever made sense or were clear! Nepotism is bad!!

  9. yeah i found the lore/worldbuilding more interesting than anything the main characters had going on. i don't think the film sucked, tho, it was just very, very mid.

So after sleeping on it, I woke up liking The Watchers a little less. Both the film and the book. They are still mostly okay, but they both suffer from pretty much nothing happening for a long period of time. I love a slow burn, but even when something happens it's not very satisfying. I'm a bit fuzzy on some details from the book since I read it back in March, but most of the changes seemed to be minor in the adaptation.

The ending in the book is a little different and actually ends on a bit of a cliffhanger because there's a sequel to it, but I've heard it's terrible so I haven't bothered reading it lol. I do prefer the book's ending though. But yeah, they are both fine. I'm a sucker for a horror movie set in a forest. Also sorta funny that Georgina Campbell is in two forest horror movies that released this year.

How was the direction for The Watchers at least? That was the only positive I was seeing from reviews.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that. I did like what Ishana did with it. Felt a bit similar to Servant at times. I'd like to see her direct an original story.

Watched The First Omen this morning. I watched Nell Tiger Free for years in Servant was still surprised at how great she is in this. Beautifully shot too.

I'm actually kind of shocked the ending is different. There are a handful of moments in the book that made it feel like it was written with the express intent of getting a film adaptation, but the ending is the one that works best, I think.

  14. How was Bad Boys? That trailer is so fun. I've never seen any of them, but I'm considering binging so I can catch this one in theaters.

  15. My Homegrown Horrors Vol. 3 set came in, which is great news except for the fact that I have Joe Bob and a handful of Chorus Horror Club flicks to catch up on lolol. Now I just want to watch Hauntedween!

  16. Rewatched Funny Games. Undeniably well-made but man do I fucking hate what that movie is trying to say lol just real dorky proto-edgelord shit imo.

Halfway through my first watch of Serial Mom and loving it.

I liked it but it retreads so many ideas from the franchise and other similar ones. I’d say instant reaction is that it’s my least favorite, but I did have a good time.

And say what you will about it Michael Bay, the dude shoots his stuff well and I miss his touch on the past two BB’s.

The Watchers was really disappointing. The best part was that I had the auditorium entirely to myself.

Added Serial Mom to my Tubi watchlist. I'm always amazed by the amount of good stuff they have.

Has anyone seen this one? It came out on VOD in November apparently. Looks really interesting and has really good reviews. I saw someone refer to it as “the first homeless invasion movie” lol
