  1. Caveat was great. Hopefully get this trailer before In a Violent Nature tonight!

I’m mostly just dreading the fact that I think my two friends that I’m going with will hate it. Lol

But I fully expect it to be the only good thing to come out of this miserable day. I’m really stoked to see the kill everyone is talking about. It’s been torturing me not knowing

I’ve been twice with two different friend groups and I definitely got some negative remarks and reactions but I was unphased by my adoration of it. Also I will say that none of these friends were big horror people and all of them found something to enjoy at least. And respected it! So that was cool.

  9. I'm going with Horror Fest people, so fortunately I don't have to worry about it the same way I worried about my normal friends hating I Saw the TV Glow (which they ended up liking anyways lol)

  12. Am I the only person that follows one or two folks on Letterboxd specifically because we usually have opposite takes? I’ve never heard of Caveat but I went to add it to my horror watchlist, and when I saw a certain dude gave it two stars I was like “oh fuck yeah I’m gonna love this” lol

I don't have letterboxd but there's definitely a few longtime, dearly cherished friends of mine who I use as an anti-echo chamber because their taste in certain things absolutely sucks ass lol

Well In a Violent Nature was fucking awesome haha

My friends actually liked it too

  15. How bad is the gore? Evil Dead Rise was probably my limit and even that was pushing it. From what I've heard i don't wanna see stuff like Terrifier, High Tension, and Martyrs.

There is a kill that I would say is Terrifier-adjacent gore-wise but it’s so ridiculous that it becomes humorous.

There’s another that is so drawn out that I personally found more uncomfortable, but in the best way possible.

Yeah there’s a couple kills that I’d say were pretty brutal graphic wise, but I was locked in at the same time even though I’m not a huge fan of gore. I guess it worked for me because of the ridiculousness (shout out Rob) of it all.

It's got a level of cartoonishness so it doesn't feel too bad. On paper it gets pretty gnarly but it's really fun in the actual movie.

  19. Yeah nobody told me I was getting a satire with In a Violent Nature lmao it might not be "haha funny" a lot of the time but I was cracking up at the teens' shitty dialogue and some of the killer's timing. I love that instead of playing it as a realistic serial killer flick (which would have been whatever), they really do send it on being very F13-adjacent complete with lore that is accepted and treated as fact by characters throughout despite the realistic tone the film is (mostly) going for. It was very, very good. THAT kill (and there's actually two of them for my money) was absolutely unbelievable, easy kill of the year for me because whatever Terrifier does is gonna feel more like novelty to me at this point.

I'm excited to rewatch alone when it comes to Shudder because I went with a group that enjoyed it, but we were also joking a bit throughout. The beginning really truly does feel like you are playing the Friday the 13th game lmao. We kept saying "Press X to equip" to each other

I had the same feelings on the dialogue. At first I was bumping against it because it’s… not great, haha. Then I was back on board when I realized it had to be intentional and thought it was a lot of fun.

I wonder if it will spawn a new sub-genre that will probably mostly be movies that didn’t understand why the concept worked. Lol

But it would be pretty awesome to see different takes on the concept.

Me too. Not sure why but I have no desire to see that in theaters unless I see a pretty empty auditorium and can get out for it.
