I'm abut halfway through The Watchers book and it's great! Can't wait to see it come to life.

I read the book last month and it looks like it may stay pretty true to it

  3. by the way, isn't it great that this year we get Longlegs and Love Lies Bleeding from the directors of, respectively, The Blackcoat's Daughter and Saint Maud?

but yeah, just finished rewatching Saint Maud. weird thing about rewatching horror movies, with the best ones--at least for me--when you know what's coming it's not really scary anymore, just kind of... sad. oftentimes profoundly so. The thing The Blackcoat's Daughter and Saint Maud share is that they're about such devastatingly lonely people. Take away the stylistic strokes of the genre, such as the moody ambience of the music and the bloody murder-y mess of it all, and you're left with stories that could make for great drama films if they were just presented a little bit differently. But of course it is the horror of it that we're really here for, after all, isn't it? When simply good writing is heightened by the grotesque and unsettling, it becomes oddly fascinating in a way that straight drama--or straight comedy--can't quite achieve on its own.

Kind of wild to me that Morfydd can so convincingly portray Maud, who's such a frail character, and then turn around and be motherfucking badass Galadriel. Actors be acting.

Need some help, friends. Someone posted a teaser for a movie in here (it was probably me honestly lol) and it was a guy and girl in a house rushing around with police sirens blaring in the distance. They both mess with these clocks and then enter a closet that I think lets them time travel or is a portal to somewhere. Anyone remember this one? It’s driving me mad

Last 6 months maybe? I don’t think it was for a released movie, but one coming out this year. It was definitely an indie movie too

It's not I Saw the TV Glow is it? There's no clocks in the trailer though (i think?)

Negative. They were like grandfather clocks and they moved the hands like they were putting in a sequence. I also believe it looked like a farm house. It might’ve leaned more towards scifi/thriller than horror but I’m not sure

Just watched The Visit. I already knew the twist and still wish it went a different route but it was actually a pretty fun watch for the most part

  21. Yep, still like Men. I've cooled on it slightly and understand the primary complaints -- it can be very on the nose and the execution is occasionally questionable, including Harper's characterization through trauma -- but it really feels like an ambitious failure to me that might be appreciated more later on. It looks gorgeous, has an amazing score, and two really incredible performances propelling the film. It could be the least coherent of Garland's filmography so far (haven't seen Civil War yet), but I think most of the time, it is fascinating at worst and truly unsettling at its best.
