I’m just not digging this. The jump scares are cool, but I really don’t have the attention span to digest this appropriately. I’m not dunking on the film’s vision or integrity at all… the visuals and sound design are fucking sweet.. but meh.. I’d much rather experience this as a short film. I gotta check out Heck.

  7. I regret to report that The Outwaters was a swing and a miss for me. I'm a sucker for found footage, but my biggest pet peeve in movies is when they're so visually dark that you can't follow what's happening. If that bothers you, I would say steer clear of this one. It's definitely a more disturbing but less creepy version of The Bllair Witch Project for the 2020s, and its mileage will vary for most people here. I won't call it a bad film, but it wasn't for me (particularly irs execution), although between this, Skinamarink, and We're All Going to the World's Fair, I'm loving the new wave of LGBTQ+ horror and will definitely be keeping an eye on whatever this director does next. Curious to hear other thoughts on this one.

  8. This is closer to my last name than when people pronounce it like the sound a cow makes tbh

It's supposed to rhyme with "book"

Second time I've spotted Conjuring 1 and 2 on DVD at Big Lots and decided not to get it... I actually haven't seen any of them, are they any good? A little reluctant to check them out because I have absolutely no interest in Annabelle or The Nun

The first Conjuring film is a modern classic.

  21. Ya The Conjuring is fantastic and really set the standard for modern, mainstream horror. I really like Conjuring 2, but its reception was a lot more mixed.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

first two Conjurings are honestly almost equal to me - both incredible. Annabelle was a thud but the prequel one was surprisingly good from memory. The Nun and Conjuring 3 are both so-bad-its-good-tier in a theatre with friends, but I'd never consciously watch either one again

  23. They're alright. Both solid, but also feel like the equivalent of Marvel-style horror (also see the IT remakes).

  24. Hah I was gonna say they felt too "mainstream-y" but "Marvel-style horror" works so much better
