The Horror Thread 2U • Page 381

Discussion in 'Entertainment Forum' started by Henry, Oct 25, 2020.

  1. Rereading the blurbs in OP of this thread; that was in 2020?! Let's do that again but with the last three years? because all the crazy films we've gotten have been a pretty wild ride, and we've all needed a bit of that horror escapism in this covid era.

Idk how we did this before, claim a movie and submit your blurbs in a week from now? Also idk where we'd put these, OP is awfully long already.

Yeah I believe Henry coordinated that before but I have not seen them posting much at all in quite some time

This was fine overall but I liked the first a lot more. Welcome to the 90’s was awesome but I felt the other segments were lacking. Also the Saw parody being the main wraparound story was a unique choice. At any rate, i loved the never ending dedication to references and nods and i kinda hope they keep making one of these every year or 2 years.

  9. Sharing because 1) wow her accent but 2) I was kinda unaware the term scream queen had a connotation of a damsel in distress role, which is interesting; I may have mistakenly lumped together scream queen with final girl

  10. Wow, M3GAN kicked ass haha so dumb and so much funnier than I expected. Knew exactly what it was. Better than the Child's Play reboot.

The rewatchability of it is great too.

I can’t see it not being in my top ten at the end of the year.

  13. I keep telling my friends M3gan is fun but they insist I have a different definition of fun, which... fair...

  14. Someone give me the lowdown on In Search of Darkness. I'm definitely interested (love horror, love docs), but I've seen so many docs already on the most popular franchises. Are any of them more focused on more obscure or straight to video stuff? This new one is also five hours, which is...a lot. (Although I did love the four-hour folk horror documentary.)

Having only watch ISOD I and II, they go chronologically and pick movies seemingly at random. I found I shows more of the "hits" and II started to get more obscure/cult-y.

Second one had more obscure stuff I believe. Never finished it tho. Loved the series

  17. Hah yeah Infinity Pool was so fucked. But idk, from everyone's reactions I was expecting to have a bit more fun with it. Not quite on the same level as Malignant/Barbarian/Titane for me.

Speaking of Mia Goth (and Anya Taylor Joy), I’m watching Marrow Bone for the first time.

Mia Goth near the end got to that level for me, but yeah I get this critique. Its most wild in the middle and ends on kind of a down note after a wild climax.

  21. Yeah I love Mia Goth in this, I just didn't love the film as a whole

it can be a little too nebulous at times and the lens flares can be a bit much but overall it worked for me

  23. Yeah, reminded me of Us in the sense that it was at times so ambitious, it maybe exceeded its own reach a bit, but also like Us, that kinda made me admire it more.

IP was good, the trailers made it seem it would have been more wild than I thought it ended up being, but it was good.

  25. Just watched Mayhem on Shudder. Steven Yeun AND Samara Weaving?! Fucking love shit like this and Guns Akimbo, had an absolute blast.
