Suspiria 2018 is a borderline classic imo

 

Kind of interesting that as I run through the Friday series a second time, I'm enjoying some films more (A New Beginning, The New Blood) and some less (Part 3D). Putting that to the test tonight with my previous favorite, Jason Takes Manhattan

 

Those two are in my top two F13 movies along with Manhattan. I hope you still feel the same after your rewatch!

We're doing a series of Valentines Day related movies for the rest of the week, so we went with Bride of Chucky. I still love it as much as the first time I watched it.

 

I love both suspirias I think they both compliment each other quite well because what one lacks the other makes up for. I wish we had more remakes like it.

 

On to Saw 5 tonight, 4 made absolutely no sense. I do not remember a lot of what happened, are we just forgetting that jigsaw kidnapped some guys daughter and is gonna die? They end 3 revealing that and then 4 ends with the reveal that it is taking the same time as 3 and then the father just gets immediately shot. Was that the game jigsaw? To get shot? The audacity of these plot twists are truly astounding.

Also there is clearly no justice in this world because i wrote the best review for saw 3 on letterboxd and did not get a single like A ★★★ review of Saw III (2006)

 

Part V is a solid movie

 

2018 Susperia is not a bad movie, I’ll be real about it. As a fan of the original, I was truly disappointed but overall, the movie was not for me and that’s fine.

 

I think this post was spot on. the original is a classic, score/cinematography are truly iconic, but the acting is... well, really bad and it doesn't even really feint at having a plot or thematic texture, it's just a framework for Dario to shoot some stuff that looks cool

the remake, wisely, totally did its own thing instead of trying to recreate the OG soundtrack or lighting. the acting was fantastic, the plot has a lot of thematic weight with plenty of stuff to chew on after the movie, it's still a gorgeous movie that looks and sounds fantastic. definitely wish more remakes would dig into the ideas of the original without just redoing the original like that.

 

I like the 2018 version more than the original.

 

I remember watching Saw IV on a teensy little Creative Zen X-Fi MP3 player 1.8" screen on a Megabus that had piss overflowing out of the toilet that kept lapping up towards me whenever the bus hit the brakes. I feel it was a suitably awful way to a watch an equally awful movie.

 

It's bloated, but I found it fascinating and kinda loved it I think.

Is the movie with cm punk from last year worth a watch? I'm down if it's decent to good or so bad it's fun lol anyone seen it?

 

kinda yeah. cm punk is terrible, but its a fun watch

I can't in good conscience REALLY call it my number one, but Jason Takes Manhattan is a top five Friday flick. Stylish, nonsensical, and bordering on parody with great kills in a fantastic setting (that's not Manhattan lol)

 

So it looks like Scream Factory could not find the long lost cut footage of Event Horizon. Bummer but I’m still buying it.

 

You're Next is on Hulu and if you don't/haven't watched it, you are dead to me.

 

I've been trying to think of my top five favorite horror films, and starting to think it is You're Next.

A slow day at work, so I'm going to find something to watch in the background.

 

has anyone watched Willy's Wonderland yet? is it amazing?

Joe Bob's Valentine's Days Special tonight!! Hoping for The Love Witch (a given) and The Bride of Re-Animator.

 

Also Alien(s?) vs. Predator: Requiem was assssss. Poor lighting in films is my biggest pet peeve and anything that might have been interesting from an action or gore standpoint was purposely obscured and impossible to make out. So bad compared to the first film.
