I’m trying again but cripes Sledgehammer is hard to get through. I paused it thinking I had to be halfway through and I was less than 20 minutes in

Edit: Okay I am a bit more invested now, kinda glad I stuck around

Skinamarink was a big disappointment imo

  4. I was contemplating watching it again because I honestly can't stop thinking about it. Found his short film that the film was based on so I'll probably watch that instead.

    Has anyone seen Antrum?

Hm. Eyes Wide Shut is a horror movie, so I should discuss my first watch in here. It rules

  7. My favorite film. And perfect for the time of year.

Have you seen After Hours? It gives me the same meandering beautiful emptiness that After Hours did. Definitely more “beautiful”, but the atmosphere is the same, even if After Hours is more comedic. It’s as close as I’ve gotten to a film depiction of Less Than Zero, which is my favorite novel.

  9. Yes! I saw it for the first time this year. Another film that I had no idea how to feel about on first watch (despite knowing I enjoyed it). So strange and unlike anything I'd seen before. But it lived in my head for so long that by second watch, I loved it.

  10. Not horror-related, but ironically, I am watching Southland Tales for a second time and feel similarly. It is so bonkers and charming despite being completely incoherent. And so funny. I will never know how Richard Kelly managed to predict the future while making the most insane film to ever star A-listers. It's like Inherent Vice set in post-9/11 America by way of Linklater, featuring The Rock, Justin Timberlake, and Sean William Scott lmao.

  13. You might hate it. A lot of people do. It's truly unbelievable and I low-key adore it. I also have bad taste

found Skinamarink gonna peep it tonight. I'm sure this is a good and fine decision, I haven't been a walking ball of anxiety for the past three weeks at all

  22. It’s a very long story, but for a few weeks I’m having to live in my childhood home, alone. And for reasons, the house is completely empty outside of the room I’m living in. So I already had some creepy liminal spaces/back rooms vibes going on in my life

All this to say, uh oh! I just watched Skinamarink alone in the dark! Not currently having a super chill time!

had a similar thing once reading House of Leaves alone in the dark with headphones on, my housemate came home during one of the tensest parts and nearly fucking took me out with the shock lmao

  24. Should I read that? It's been on my list forever

yeah I think it's a book everyone should read once. it certainly has its problems and I thought it was the greatest thing ever when I was 16, but it's still a unique experience today

on another note I decided to finish Cabinet of Curiosities tonight because I was almost done. holy shit is Dreams in the Witch House a stinker. wild that Del Toro signed off on this
