I mainly meant the ability to change the video quality and CRT but yeah the controls are rough haha. I’m getting used to them though and I’m already terrified in the mall

Was surprised to see this list contain more than Blood Rage, Thankskilling, and Pilgrim tbh

 

Oh man. I love Pilgrim and The McPherson Tape. Wish Black Friday was better for what it is. Still need to see Blood Freak, and I'm wondering if I should revisit Boogeyman. I'm almost positive it won't be good, but I rented it so much growing up.

 

Watch partied Smile and Barbarian with some friends last night. Smile was definitely better than I was expecting. As you all have mentioned, the atmosphere, the sound design, the fakeout scares, and the practical effects were all super effective. I do think it felt a little empty (the smile was clearly kind of a gimmick to signify what was happening that also happened to make a great marketing strategy, which is probably why the trailer made it look like a shitty 2000s teen horror flick). Regardless, it was solid!

Liked Barbarian much more on second watch without the hype attached. Even picked up on a little bit of commentary this time, which I think aside from one scene is really tactful and baked into the film.

 

Pilgrim is cool, but I’m a sucker for most of the Into the Dark series.

 

Blood Rage rules. Definitely gonna try to rewatch it this week.

 

Yeah for a game with intentionally outdated, blocky, PS1 graphics, I am unable to play this game at night currently haha

 

I was just looking up last names on wikipedia like Cronenberg, Skarsgard, Hemsworth, and Coppola and holy shit Nic Cage is Sofia's cousin?!?! (as is Jason Schwartzman but I knew that already)

Wow… Smile is so much better than it’s shit trailer made it out to be!

Update: I know Barbarian has been the talk of the town all fall, but Smile’s climax destroyed Barbarian’s.

 

Barbarian I liked more as a whole, but yeah the last like 20 minutes of Smile are really really good.
