  1. Fresh (on Hulu.)

or Little Monsters or Possessor. Both also on Hulu I think.

  2. All right, just got back from seeing The Invitation. Reporting back as promised.

Ready or Not is a comedic horror about a woman who unwittingly enters a wealthy family's violent tradition/ritual, the majority of the runtime focusing on the main character escaping and fighting back.
The Invitation is a romantic horror about a woman who unwittingly enters a wealthy family's violent tradition/ritual, the majority of the runtime focusing on the main character being seduced by a vampire.
Ready or Not is fantastic and fun. The Invitation is... not very good, but also not very bad. I didn't like certain aspects of its tone and pacing, the horror elements in particular felt very cheap, and it addresses racism in an insubstantial way that feels like it was written by white people, but I was intrigued by the plot and I enjoyed Nathalie Emmanuel's performance. I think it's worth watching for her, especially if you're still upset with the way Missandei's arc ended, at least this movie gives her character a bit of agency, even if it is only at the very end.

I kinda hate the invitation movie that everybody loves. I drank a cider tonight and will be bold and not apologize for thinking that movie is a snoozefest! Idk about this vampire one.

Season of the Witch was great. Romero certainly didn’t think twice about calling out inequality in any form. The paranoia he was able to capture here was super effective. Doing The Crazies now and while I saw the remake years ago, I do not remember it being as brutal as this haha

  8. Thought Bodies Bodies Bodies was brilliant. I knew I was enjoying it but there was enough to chew on that I was actively trying to figure out what was working for me and what wasn't, and then the ending really pulled it all together for me. Did not see the reveal coming. Love that it works both as a "satire" of sorts (and a particularly relatable one for me) in addition to just being a very tense, very funny whodunit. The lighting was crazy, too.

I really loved the Bodies ending except the last line, fell strangely flat after nailing a really complicated ending so well.

looks dope as hell. I did some digging and saw that the director made another movie called “The Nobodies” that sounds right up my alley as well. Ordered the Troma DVD, which came in today. Seems to be the only way I could find to watch it

So Vam has interesting concepts and a lot of heart, but is flawed. Pretty cool the film was written and by a 17 year old trans girl! If given a real budget, she could do something special.

The final scene in Watcher is phenomenal. It’s now in my top ten of the year.

  19. To be fair, the first one is the only great one and following two are the only really solid ones after that lol it's very "in the mood for straight-to-VHS" stuff

Just saw a tiktok talking about Megan is Missing, apparently it's very shocking. Never heard of it, and not really interested in seeing it, but wondering if anyone in here has? Is it just one of those things that's known for being excessively graphic?

I haven’t seen it but it was profiled in a doc called, “The Found Footage Phenomenon.” I recently checked it on on Shudder. From what I can tell it’s not graphic in the classic case of horror gore or anything like that, but rather in its portrayal of (TW:) r*pe. I personally have no intention of watching it.
