I’ve never seen a Predator movie. I am assuming I should not start with Prey?

It’s doesn’t matter. It’s like poetry, they rhyme. There’s connections you’ll miss from not seeing the others. But then if you see the others you will go, “oh! I remember that from Prey!” If you saw the others first you’ll go, “oh! I remember that from predator number whatever!” Someone pointed out that Prey probably doesn’t give as much info on the predator as the others but I don’t think it matters at all. Prey has its own great characters and great story that could exist entirely without a predator and be just as compelling. Adding the Predator just makes things more intense.

all that to say, it’s more than fine to start with Prey. It’s also okay if you decide to see the others first. I watched the first two on Tubi earlier this year. Not sure if they’re still on there.

  3. You should start with Prey lol. It's the best of the bunch and you really don't need to be familiar with the Predator to follow the film at all. My fiancee watched (and enjoyed) it last night and had never seen another Predator film.

Yeah. Prey kicked so much ass. Gnarly kills. Great acting. Story was very formidable. Highly recommend it.

Finally watched Ouija: Origin of Evil.

    - Somehow I never knew Flanagan directed it, otherwise I would have been all over it way earlier.
    - Love the 60s setting in LA
    - going to say it again - no one does horrifying eyes better than Flanagan. No one.
    - the cue marks throughout were a nice touch.

Prey was fine, but 93% on RT makes no fucking sense to me…I’m sorry. Characters are fine, design and effects are damn good, but the film is minimally engaging.

I liked Prey quite a bit. It was a solid 7.5-8/10 for me

Prey was very good. Simple, but highly effective.

It was everything it needed to be. A simple story executed well with a fantastic cast.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yeah as someone who finds the original Predator pretty mininally interesting (jesus those first 30 minutes are rough) I was absolutely riveted to the screen during all of Prey. having actually good cinematography and a phenomenal lead in Amber Midthunder certainly didn't hurt

I really enjoyed how it was so straightforward. I think the Half in the Bag guys comment on that too - there weren't any dumb sub-plots and it didn't try to be anything more than it needed to be. I think that made it very effective!

  20. Yeah, was just going to say - simple is better for those films. I think they struck something none of the previous films have in that less is more approach. The first one is arguably similar, but I truly think Prey does it best. I'm already excited to watch it again.
