  1. Yeah, both Eggers and Aster films for sure. Prestige horror can occasionally come off as pretentious, but those are shining examples of the medium

Saw this trailer last night during my 4th viewing of Scream '22, and it looks pretty great

Yeah the trailer stuck out to me too in theaters. Looks spooky as shit.

  4. Would like to attempt an it Comes at Night/Children of the Corn double-feature tonight.

Did the Dark and the Wicked (surprisingly good for how bleak it is) and The Faculty (still rules) over the weekend

  5. I started out watching only prestige horror, but I've come to love horror comedies as well, like Freaky/Happy Death Day 1-2, The Babysitter 1-2, and Ready or Not.

And horror comedy musical, Anna and the Apocalypse.

Anna and the Apocalypse has become a firm staple for our household every Christmas now. Still get the hollywood ending song stuck in my head from time to time.

  8. Also throw Jordan Peele and Jennifer Kent into that mix. I think I liked Us more than most people.

In addition to those mentioned, I Really wanna see Benson and Moorhood come back after Moon Knight and deliver a new sci-fi horror feature. I think they'll be poised to do something awesome (hopefully) after the Marvel exposure assuming the show is received well. Also, Leigh Whannel, as well as the duo behind Ready or Not and the new Scream.

I did a double feature of The Faculty and Wild Things last night! On a big 90s kick right now.

Probably. Maybe not? Not horror. More of an erotic, whodunnit thriller.

  16. Yeah, both descriptions sound up my alley. I'll add it to my list for the next time I need a 90s flick!

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I'll throw out Resolution/The Endless cos I didn't see them get a mention. also if you count it as horror, Coherence is one of my all-time favourites

  22. Idk if Annihilation counts, but I'm throwing it out there.

If we're still talking about post the year 2000, then definitely Martyrs (2008).

  24. I'd say Ex Machina and Annihilation are both horror-adjacent and near-perfect

Some of Annihilation isn't even horror-adjacent, it's just pure horror. Looking at you human-screaming mutated bear
