  1. Finally got around to The Poughkeepsie Tapes and yeesh. I knew it would be disturbing, but based on it being on Paramount+ of all places and that MGM logo, I thought it would be, like...mainstream disturbing. Not "August Underground Lite" disturbing. Genuinely terrifying, but not a pleasant watch.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

I watched it once like a decade ago and it scared the fuck out of me. Been meaning to go back and watch it again and see if still impacts me the same way.

  4. Okay, opinion could change because I'm drinking and only halfway through, but The Collector is really good?? I remember not loving it when it came out (I was a Saw fan in high school), but rewatching now, this is like Saw with an actual, suspense-driven plot lol. It even looks good.

  5. Okay, there's some insane shit like a room filled with bear traps and another filled with acid, but it's so funny that I don't really hate it tbh

This is intriguing. Going in on this tonight.

Did Gretel and Hansel last night and gosh I feel like it could've been so much more. Something was just missing and I'm not sure what, it just felt incomplete to me. I can now echo what I've heard a million times though, it was gorgeous. Some of those shots and set pieces were just so fun to look at, and watch. Certainly didn't dislike it, but was fully ramped up to love it at the beginning and felt let down at the end.

Now watching: Blood Lake. Good hangout flick so far

    edit:
This LB review made me laugh
“Party games are played and beer is consumed as the camera observes it all with the patience of Bela Tarr.”

Granted I am a few beers/old fashioneds deep, but there really is a beautiful hypnotic stillness to some of these seemingly inept SOV films that remind me of like Pedro Costa. Never as beautiful of framing, partially by the nature of how they were shot, but still.

  9. I watched Scary Movie (forgive me, it was for Gourley and Rust) and now I'm watching The Collection. Hoping to do Diary of the Dead plus The Last Drive In's SOV night again with an online friend tomorrow

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

did Prince of Darkness on blu-ray tonight, such an underrated Carpenter flick. the messages from 1999 are properly terrifying and the plot is absolute nonsense in the best way

  11. Don't remember if this was ever posted, but it looks interesting.

  12. Also, this short film is pretty well-made and creepy. Apparently it's based on a creepypasta, which I know nothing about. Totally worth a 9min watch.

  21. I wasn't sure if you meant 2000-2009 or just post-2000s in general. Probably Jennifer's Body and House of Wax for the former, even though I saw both for the first time last year--I wasn't really into horror until fairly recently. Definitely Doctor Sleep and Midsommar for the latter, those hit all the right notes for me, especially the Director's Cut.

I meant post the year 2000 haha but I guess that wasn't super clear. I've been on a kick recently to watch a bunch of "great" movies from post 2000 so that's why I asked.

    Goodness is Nowhere Supporter

It's really hard for me to narrow down my favorite film from the last two decades. I think a combination of Jennifer's Body, You're next, Get Out, and Midsommar is what I would say. All have done different things to move the genre forward or the influence is felt. Honestly, just depends on your personal tastes.
