Hung out with friends last night, I brought a few DVDs to choose from, we watched Hocus Pocus and, of course, Over the Garden Wall.
I hadn't seen Hocus Pocus in so long, I didn't realize I still remembered so much of it. It's so... campy now. In a good way, I mean.
Over the Garden Wall is perfection.

    Final list

    repeat directors/actresses final count:
2: Emily Blunt/Millicent Simmonds (series), Jessica Rothe (series), McG (series) Naya Rivera (series), Megan Fox, Madeline Brewer, Jane Levy, Julia Ducournau
3: Karyn Kusama, Samara Weaving, Christopher Landon
    4: Mike Flanagan
I wanted to get a couple more repeats in there but Abigail Breslin dies in the first five minutes of Fear Inc. and I immediately lost interest, and I didn't feel like watching Allison Williams in Get Out again so soon after the last time.

Another Halloween and another year of trying to be entirely too ambitious. Notable watches for me include WNUF, Hack O Lantern, The Scooby Doo Project, Young Frankenstein, Jennifer's Body, and Hausu.

On another note, i saw that The Medium is on Shudder and being hailed as an ultimate scaring experience. I remember the trailer being shared in here quite some time ago and it looking bonkers. Anyone watch yet?

Also please see some unprompted pics from our stoop last night. First Halloween in this house and we had a decent amount of kiddos roll through. A success!

  7. Hah, that's on the list I quote tweeted. I don't remember too much from that one, but I think it was pretty bonkers!

Last night was a little disappointing because my anxiety was really acting up, didn't wind up watching anything in full (started House of the Devil, which I'll finish with my fiancee later, and F13: The Final Chapter) but decided to sit outside and wait for kids, which was nice, and then had some friends swing by for a little bit. Turned in early, but my brain needed it. Hopefully make up for anything I meant to hit in the coming weeks.

Looks like my month looked something like:

    Halloween
    Teen Wolf
    The Burning
    VHS94
    Angel
    Terror Train
    The Voices
    Halloween II
    Halloween 4
    Halloween Kills
    After Midnight
    Titane
    The Night House
    Halloween 6
    Hell Fest
    Last Shift
    Housebound
    Blood Beat
    Beyond the Black Rainbow
    The Neon Demon

Just watched Halloween Kills. I don’t know if I’m just really easy to please, but I liked it quite a bit

Started watching cry_wolf because I remembered loving it when I was younger. My god, it is trashy. Didn't end up getting to the meat of the film because it was taut with early 2000's garbage.

  11. I'd typically feel nervous about posting this kind of thing, but we picked up a bunch of new listeners in the past week and our episodes have been sounding clearer I believe, so it's probably as good a time as any to quickly plug my podcast (which may be going through a slight rebrand soon). Here's out latest episode on The Thing with my bandmate, Brian:

The Thing (John Carpenter, 1982) with Brian Kinney

We release two episodes a week, the first discussing a film by one of two directors we choose to cover each season (this season is Carpenter and Kubrick) and the second being a recent/trending film. We have a VHS94 episode coming up shortly. If it floats your boat, feel free to share or tell a friend, throw us an Apple review, or join our Patreon for video episodes, BTS pictures, outtakes, Discord access, and watch parties:

And that's the last time I'll ever plug that shamelessly in here! Thanks!

I’m not a podcast listener whatsoever, but I have a few friends who are and are also big fans of the genre, so I’ll shoot them the link!

Also, doing Freaky tonight. Never seen it before. What’s the consensus on that one around here?

Freaky was fun! It has a super gnarly kill early on that really stuck with me.

Freaky is good. Generally like Christopher Landon except Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse which I hated

No fucking clue how Landon is the writer of that Paranormal Activity movie. There is pretty much nothing good about it.

  20. Oh yeah, bookmarking that to read before bed. Still need(?) to see The Beginning, Texas Chansaw 3D, and Leatherface. Still found TCM 3 and 4 to be much more fun than anticipated.

  21. Freaky is shockingly good! And thank you!

Freaky is great. The humor may not always land but it's so much fun.

Still really enjoying the Chucky series. Seems like the other Chucky dolls will be coming into play any time now

  25. Man, I love Cat's Eye. Not the best King anthology (or adaptations) but I rented it so many times on VHS as a kid, just a silly, fun, nostalgic watch
