It absolutely rules. We talked about it a few weeks back. It obviously has its flaws, but it’s atmosphere is perfect for fall viewing.

I watched Crawl last night and I can’t get over how they put an “overflow pipe” (think that’s what they called it) the size a human could easily crawl through, just directly into someone’s basement?? Like, is that something that actually exists to that size or was that embellished for the story because my god I would never buy such a house if that exists in general let alone one that a person or god knows what could crawl through lol

Land of the Dead is an under-appreciated movie and it’s themes were not only ahead of it’s time but would be much more appreciated now in the current political and economic climate in America.

Does it still look cheap? That’s the biggest problem I have with it.

I can’t imagine Creepshow not looking cheap. Feel like the scrappiness is part of the charm

  14. Man. I don't know if Halloween is a perfect film, but it might as well be. As perfect as a slasher can get. An annual rewatch (as I'm sure it is for many) that never gets old. Such a cozy seasonal flick. Can't wait to watch Halloween II with the Gourley and Rust commentary tomorrow.

Kinda how I feel about the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So simple, so terrifying, so….strangely realistic. Like, It’s terrifying to know that could actually happen anytime, anywhere. Maybe it’s currently happening and we don’t even know about it.

Same kinda goes for the first Strangers movie. Terrifying, yet, a frustrating watch because….like, why? Why do this?

  16. Yeah, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a genuinely unpleasant experience for me, which honestly adds to how ~good~ of a horror film it is. I don't return to it often, but it's just as effective every. single. time. Feels more realistic than any horror film I think I've ever seen.

I like The Strangers, but I do feel like it's a tad overrated because of the ending. I never remember much of what happens and honestly think I enjoy the sequel more as a piece of Carpenter worship.

I gained a new appreciation for Halloween II after watching it this time. I've seen it a bunch and always liked it, but I always docked it points in my head for it containing itself in the hospital. I realized this time that is kind of unfair. The first 45 minutes really takes you around Haddonfield and you get some great Halloween atmosphere, with some shots directed by Carpenter himself.

Going to try to hit up that little shopping square in Sierra Madre where Michael runs into the boom box kid when we visit the other filming locations in Pasadena before Kills.

The og Halloween and TCM are two of the greats for sure. Excited to start the new season of Creepshow - I liked S2 a lot more than S1 so I hope that trend continues. Bought Halloween (18) to watch in anticipation of Kills. Haven't seen it since theatres so I'm excited and hopeful that I like it as much as I did back then. Also finally pulled the trigger on Over the Garden Wall so I can own it and watch it whenever but planning a runthrough of the whole series soon now that its October. It's required viewing for anyone who has not seen it!

Is Titane considered a horror film?

Oh well. 9/10 film that is absolutely fucking bonkers. FFO: Cronenberg, body horror
