Wow! I hadn’t thought of that, but I can definitely see the parallels.

Did anyone catch any Saw Easter eggs? I’m not sure if James still sneaks them in, but I didn’t see one on my first watch.

Major Saw vibes. From the score and the tension

Sorry, should’ve specified… he usually sneaks in Billy The puppet imagery somewhere on screen.

Finished Malignant a few minutes ago. Definitely worth a watch. Some great moments, a literal jaw dropping moment for me, but also some real strange choices, quirky moments, some laugh out loud and probably wasn’t meant to be that way but honestly cannot tell moments.

gonna post thoughts in the thread to not spoil anything in here.

When I watched it this time, I realized something, and I looked up articles to confirm: other than the bloody elevator scene they don't use any footage from The Shining. The recreations are so incredibly similar and the cuts are so quick that you can barely tell it's actually Alex Essoe and Henry Thomas in the flashbacks.

Speaking of director's cuts, when I first bought Haunting of Hill House on DVD I hadn't actually seen it yet. I saw extended versions of a few episodes when I watched it for the first time, so I wouldn't know the difference from what's on Netflix. I need to watch this again, with director's commentary.

It looks like the Bly Manor DVD won't have any added scenes; I'm probably gonna buy it anyway.

Finished up Brand New Cherry Flavor last night. V Lynchian and while I appreciated it, it wasn't really for me. I know that Channel Zero was canned but in a perfect world, I would've preferred another season of that instead of this with a contained story. BNCF had way too much going on. Curious about the novel now though.

Revisited Lights Out last night simply to compare some of it's imagery to Malignant, and yikes it does not hold up for me.

It blows my mind that the show only covers the first sixty pages of the book.

Oh wow, had no idea. How is the book overall?

From what I've read, VASTLY different. A lot of the characters don't exist. The producer wasn't a huge deal. The girl from the movie is barely mentioned (with a different name). The witch was a man who didn't even realize he could swap bodies until it happened.

The next arc involves her going to Brazil to learn about her family and stuff. I tried not to read into it, in case it does get renewed.

The new paranormal activity comes out in March. So idk why it’s listed for Halloween 2021

If IKWYDLS was a movie I would probably hate watch it. A series? No chance in hell

Is this a joke that just went way over my head? Cause there’s 3.

I think the post meant if the reboot was a movie instead of a series it'd be worth hate watching, but a full series is out of the question

Ah yes that makes more sense.

I likely will not watch that reboot either. Looked quite bland.

I’ve actually never seen it because I knew no one returned from the previous entries. Does it even tie into the first two films?

Been years since I've seen it but I think something is mentioned briefly to tie them together. I do remember one kill being pretty great in it

I haven’t seen I Still in a long time. The first one I’ve seen plenty and can probably recite. Need to go see my dude Mekhi get throat hooked into the oven vent. (My favorite kill out of both movies.)
