Watching House of 1000 Corpses as I pack up my living room. Should be able to get a few movies in during this long weekend.

    Plans to see Candyman tomorrow.

Dolls was great and much more fairy tale-esque than I would’ve guessed. Evilspeak with JBB now

Hell yeah, Dolls rules. I loved how whimsical it is but still gets pretty violent and creepy.

So I can say that I love the Candyman sequel. But two takeaways I can’t ignore is that it feels super abrupt with the ending, and it’s 100% a sequel and you have to have seen the first to watch this one IMO. My date liked the movie but had no idea what was going on in multiple scenes. It should’ve had something in the title added.

I felt the same way about Halloween (2018)

Candyman: It May Look Like a Reboot, but it’s, in Reality, a Sequel

Evilspeak was great. Clint Howard was great. Loved seeing him as the lead for a change. Hated the one super cruel part of this movie, even though I knew it was coming. Started up Mausoleum this morning, about halfway in and loving it so far.

Watched Ghost Stories, The Thing (2011), and 1408 yesterday.

Ghost Stories was great each segment was super weird and creepy. Had some good atmosphere to get into the season despite this heat.

The Thing actually worked for me a lot better than I imagined it would. Ultimately a little forgettable, but nothing egregiously bad. Mostly just a fun time that borrows enough from the original without being obnoxious.

1408 was terrible. Worse than I even remembered. Not sure why we watched it to be honest.

I reference It Follows at the beginning of my class each year to talk about building suspense through setting. Always cool that a few kids have seen it

I've gotta start early now if I wanna knock out everything on the list. I have failed completing my list the past 3 years.
Jennifer's Body was great! It really is a shame that it fell flat when it first came out (due to being marketed by a bunch of dumb men who didn't understand it, i'm reading) but I'm glad it has found a following after the fact.
