  1. F13 is admittedly a ripoff, but only in the sense that the first film has shots from the killer's POV. Even then, it contains a great twist that Halloween doesn't (not that it's better than Halloween, per se) and it was just as foundational to the slasher genre as a whole, so it definitely belongs in the conversation. (I do happen to think it is almost as good as Halloween, though.)

I think on paper the story is thin outside of the twist it’s his mom and doesn’t even hold a flame to the atmosphere and eeriness of Halloween. The acting is incredibly bad along with the dialogue, and it is really just bodies wandering into situations where they’re alone or banging and then die with bad effects. I’m not saying I haven’t seen them a million times nor denying that I have fun seeing all those movies from that era, but if we’re being honest yeah that’s my take lol.

I think I might actually like Jason X most.

  7. I take back what I said about your take being valid lmao

Halloween will forever be my favorite out of the big 3. It's what I initially credit as getting me truly interested in horror films and parts of it still unsettle me even though I've seen it so many times. Even apart from that, I think it is the best crafted film out of the 3.

I would rank them as such:

    Halloween
    NOES
    F13

I love them all though and NOES and F13 will always have their place.

I enjoy the characters in the first 4 Friday films more than those in the Halloween franchise. Laurie and Dr Loomis are good characters but the supporting cast in the ‘78 Halloween are annoying. Jamie was okay in part 4 but I did not like where they took the character in part 5 at all. I like the final girls in Part 2 and 3 of F13 and didn’t mind Corey Feldman as Tommy.

It’s the most fun! Goes to Hell is pretty great too.

I’ve weirdly never seen a Nightmare movie outside of the original, remake and Freddy v Jason, if we count that one.

  13. I probably would have liked Jason X more if I grew up with it, but having seen it for the first time within the last few years, I think it's legitimately awful and not very fun lol but I do think Goes to Hell is bonkers and more fun than it gets credit for. I'm a Manhattan guy myself, so I relate to having strange F13 opinions.

  15. Better than me. I've only seen 1/3 of the original Nightmare movie. I keep meaning to finish it, but alas......

Now with TTCM, the trend really does seem to be solidified as "make a movie that appears to be a reboot based on the same franchise original title, but actually turns out to be a sequel to the original, negating all subsequent sequels"

You must’ve missed part of my previous post where I said I’ve watched them all a bunch and have fun with the series, but yeah I don’t think I take them very seriously. It’s the hokey, ridiculous FT13 movies I get the most out of what I enjoy from them is what I’m sayin.

Ah gotcha. I take the first 4 seriously, especially the first 2 which are very grounded in reality. Once Jason dies and comes back as a supernatural zombie killing machine then it becomes more comical.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Dream Warriors is the best imo and New Nightmare is very very good. if it was just a trilogy with those and the original it would be among my favourites of all time (tho I genuinely love something about every movie, excluding that dogshit remake lol)

You mean that’s when it gets FUN! Resurrected via lightning through a rod impaled by his arch nemesis!? Doesn’t get better than that in the series haha.

No way lol except for part 6, any movie after the final chapter is almost non existent to me. Freddy vs Jason and the reboot are fun but I can’t sit through those movies in one sitting.

Sack head fast moving Jason is pretty unnerving. But I think my best experience with the franchise today remains the video game that came out a few years ago haha.
