    wider release on 11/10

The disliked Deerfield Academy teacher, Paul Hunham, is put in charge of supervising the students who are unable to return home to Christmas due to having no family. However, he is forced to deal with one particularly rebellious student, Angus.

I love Sideways and Nebraska. Very excited for this. I only watched the first little bit of the trailer. I know I'm going to see it, so I want to go in fresh.

What an interesting trailer. That freakin voiceover brought me back to the 90s. Can’t be as bad as his last flick!

Saw the trailer, and I love Giamatti....

But I get the feeling we've seen this movie before with either Robin Williams, or Al Pacino, or perhaps a few others... :/

I can't decide if I love the retro throwback trailer and think this looks awesome or if I hate it and think it looks corny.

I also (and I'm sorry if this is awful), but when the kid says 'my dads dead' I expected some kind of awkward comic relief moment, (quip / comeback), but instead it just goes right into the heartfelt portion of the trailer. Really weird transition that gets me every time.

Saw this yesterday, it was fantastic. Giamatti was excellent, all around loved it!

i saw this last night and agree it’s very good. has an old-fashioned feel that’s at many times heartwarming without being sentimental or schmaltzy. DJR also has moments to shine, but this is giamatti’s film, make no mistake. strong first outing for dominic sessa, too. maybe one of payne’s better movies

I'm pretty cold on Payne (I think I only truly love Election) but the overwhelmingly positive response from opinions I trust has convinced me to give this a shot. (Who am I kidding it's gonna be in the best picture race I was gonna see it at some point)

This is so specific, but this feels like one of those movies that wins a bunch of awards and everyone looks back on it bitterly cause of the movies it won over.

That is to say, it's very well made and will appeal to Oscar voters. But it feels a little too slight to be one of the best of the year. I didn't think about it much when it was over. Love seeing Paul Giamatti kill it though.

I don’t think it’ll win any awards. Long shot at acting maybe but I don’t see it winning anything.

I had a good time with this. It's not necessarily doing anything you haven't seen before, but it does it very well and it has a ton of heart. It's maybe a little too "after-school special" at times, but I really liked it. Da'Vine Joy Randolf steals it.
