Flanagan is already making a different show called midnight mass. at the very least, we will be getting some sort of spooky netflix content from him

It's a decent fairy tale but as we learn at the end.... this isn't a ghost story but a love story.

Damnit! Should have told me sooner!

I loved the journey of season 1 which led to our 7th Heaven-esque ending

But season 2s journey was merely "ok".

My favorite episode was miss groses.

I’m only on episode three and absolutely loving its direction. Very happy it’s different from the first season—proves its range, and underlines the fact horror cant be pigeonholed to only be one thing.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

    almost non-existent lol

nothing on par with Nell in the car in Hill House

Bly really took a huge shit for the last episode IMO, almost game of thrones level disappointing.

hill house was a 10, bly is like a 6 for me.

last episode of Bly is probably its best episode?

ok I exaggerate it's not better than episode 5, but it's still absolutely gorgeous and a much better ending than Hill House gave us

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Yeah I'm baffled by that because I thought the end to this was fantastic and did an amazing job, whereas I was sort of let down by the end of Hill House.

    It's all hell.

I thought both endings were fantastic.

Hill House gets extra points for introducing me to this punch-in-the-gut tear jerker:

Idunno, I didn’t find a hideo kojima-level hour-long exposition dump followed by the main character uttering one magic sentence to solve the problem built up over hundreds of years to be satisfying. The sap level was also just out of control. Idunno, I wanted a horror show and didn’t get one.

    what a waste of wood

Was really unsure about this by the 2nd-3rd episode because Hill House was one of my favorite seasons of anything ever and this just wasn't hitting me the same way. Everything from episode 4 and on was incredible though.

Thought it was plenty thrilling/scary. Even more so than Hill House after a certain point. It was also incredibly sad though. The last episode fuuuucked me up. Also thought the penultimate episode was great!

Just like Hill House before it, Bly will stay with me for a long time. Both seasons affected me greatly.

imo both endings were good, everything was tied up nicely. but I do agree that the cheesiness is a liiittle much. some of the closing monologue for Hill House felt like it was from a CW show.

she didn't magically solve the problem by doing that?. there was a whole episode after that where she tragically payed the price for that. she essentially traded the life she could have had with Jamie to free all the ghosts at Bly and save Flora. not exactly a feelgood sappy ending

Love when horror pushes boundaries into territory the genre usually doesn't touch. Genre is an aesthetic, anyway.

The existential elements of this story is where the true horror lies for me personally. Same thing with season 1. It's not the jump scares or deaths that stay with me. Just saying.

I think the whole conversation about horror not being horror, unless it has jump-scares, is super frustrating. You have people out there lauding Midsommar and Us as not horror, both forward-thinking horror films that are frequently blasted by the jump-scare crowd; and yet, these films were not recognized by the academy because they were likely considered horror (a genre rarely, if ever, recognized for awards).
