I might be ignorant but having an extension cab will not make it louder since the cabs have to share the amperage.

Double ignorance speaking as I dont have experience with playing on stage, but AC15s are loud af when cranked to me. Should be ok getting heard over an un miced drum kit if you're not wanting to use PAs

I've seen Orange, Egnater, and Fender 30w amps, some heads and some combos, be perfectly adequate for house show and venue show settings (up to a certain size venue, obviously). One band I knew used an AC30 w/greenbacks and didn't seem to have any problems, but I don't have experience with it personally.
I'd imagine style plays a lot into it too. We're a rock band and there's riffs and stuff but we aren't like "heavy" necessarily. It's possible my Rebel 30 wouldn't work in a more heavy band setting.

I think it'll be alright. I mean most venues have the capability to mic amps these days anyways.

I've heard both sides of the extension cab argument so I guess I was just blindly siding with one and talking out of my ass haha.

Loved the amp. The tubes really make the fidelitrons sing a bit

Just learned about Prymaxe. Saw they have a labor day 20% off sale. Got super excited and then I saw and checked 'exclusions' and it excludes like every brand I can think of wtf.

that it's not. I want a stereo verb. And the way they are supporting it is exciting

Not a fan of the RV-5? That, Neunbaber Stereo Wet, and EHX Cathedral are all stereo reverbs and notably cheaper

Yeah I wanted the stereo wet. I have a mono wet now and love it. If you get the Exp with the wet then youre at 350 right there. I just want the empress for all the options. fuck it lol

I can't imagine a drummer loud enough that a 30w tube amp's not enough but no one I've played with really beats their drums that hard so idk.

get a fender squier strat or tele, the last 5-10 years of them really don't suck and it's easier to learn on electric because your fingers are gonna hurt a shitload less. You'll probably want a small amp or a headphone amp because playing electric unplugged really isn't going to be fun enough to keep you going most likely.

upside to learning on a (shitty) acoustic: if/when you switch to an electric, barre chords are gonna be so easy.

come to think of it, why do strings always have to be tighter on acoustics? what's keeping anyone from throwing some slinky ass strings on

I think tighter strings = more naturally loud resonance without having to hit the strings harder, but don't quote me on that

they sound pretty. and in terms of songwriting i think it's helpful to hear how a song sounds acoustic with no effects or anything

  20. MrCon

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Acoustics are so much easier to just pick up and have a quick play on too. I bought my first one this summer (I've been playing electric for about 15 years) and I quite often just grab it and have a quick run through a song while I've got a few minutes. I never bother doing that with an electric.

yeah, that's a good point. I don't mind playing electric unplugged, it still has a nice resonance to it, but I'm way more likely to play an acoustic if I'm just gonna make a quick decision or if I don't wanna bother plugging in.
