I can't imagine what playing on a divorce record about my sister would be like. No thanks.

A page or so back, someone that lives near Alex Levine and gets lined up at his barbershop said that Alex outright told him the band would be coming back at some point. It's just a question of when since Brian is doing the solo thing with some of the other guys. Plus, I think Benny had a kid at some point, so there's that aspect to consider.

Listened through that podcast. I thought the Brand New episode was better done. Maybe because I knew more references in the Gaslight record, but I feel like I could go to the Gaslight fan forum and find a list of the lyrical references. Still a fun listen, regardless.

Yeah, I was pretty pumped to see that news too. It seems like Brian is pretty focused on writing another solo record, so we just have to play the waiting game. It would be cool if at some point while writing and recording the solo record, he reconnects with the band members and gears start turning.

  12. How was I not already subscribed to this thread? Lemme fix that.

Anyways, Get Hurt is their best album and Have Mercy is their best song.

Two of their best songs are bonus tracks.

And it still bothers me that Keepsake and Ain't That a Shame made the cut instead.

One of the things I appreciate about this band is how many varying opinions exist on their best albums and songs. I enjoy Get Hurt and Have Mercy, but would not consider them my favorite album and song. And that's a good thing.

Need this band back in the worst way. Probably saw them 11-12 times over the course of a few years all in the NJ/NY metro area. Now I'm finally starting to feel the withdrawal symptoms.

The '59 Sound may be the only instance in which I can honestly say "this album changed my life." I don't expect it to be topped. It isn't my most played and I don't think it's their best song but "Great Expectations" will probably always be my favorite for that same reason.

I think Brian is following momentum and is probably in the solo mindset. He's still playing with Alex and Ian and seems really close with the rest of the Crowes. I think the next solo album will determine a lot about Gaslight's future as a recording band.

I don't think Brian will let Gaslight go though. There's probably a lot of pressure there. There hasn't been a Gaslight song I don't like. Once he shifts mind sets and those 5 guys come together I wouldn't be surprised if they did a lot of songs for an album cycle. Maybe just less touring.

Wherefore Art Thou, Elvis? Is my favorite Gaslight song and probably overall favorite Fallon track

The Gaslight Anthem, and the '59 Sound reminded me how much I valued good songwriting and storytelling. This album coming out got me believing in punk rock again. I was listening to some different stuff and this album and band brought me back to my roots in a way. Very thankful for that.

Man, that first night on the Stone Pony Summerstage was a massive stinker. Only time I'd ever been disappointed in them live. I heard the next night was much better, though.

I saw them at Bonnaroo and then at Shaky Knees. They played the House of the Rising Sun cover at Shaky Knees and it was fucking great.

I hated Keepsake on first listen but man, that's a great tune. Surprised to see somebody say that shouldn't have made the album.
Sign of a great band - everyone's favorites are different.
