Definitely something worth considering. I'll look into it when I get home from work later. Thanks for the input

i can't imagine the stress of ranking all 70 songs I have by them (including all deluxe/bsides) yeeesh

i think my least ever favorite GA song is maybe Selected Poems or Desire.

If we're talking least favorite songs, Red Violins steals that one quite handily for me.

very close to the end for sure for me, but the verses and melody are catchy so it saves a few spots from the bottom

I guess it just depends on how you want to structure it. In my mind, doing it wide open makes more sense because you have more interesting matchups. Like, you might randomly get American Slang vs The '59 Sound in the first round and that can really alter where things go. Seeding the first round by album removes that sort of decision and really sets up the fan favorites to make it to the end.

I've only done the songs by album, but leaving it wide open is actually really interesting.

I agree, I'm definitely intrigued by it.

So excluding all covers and Brian Fallon side projects, Gaslight has 69 songs. Sounds about right unless I may have missed one.

"This Is Where We Part", a B-side from Get Hurt, it's reminiscent of "Ladykiller" from The Horrible Crowes record except not quite as good.

If an even number makes it easier, Our Father's Sons wasn't "technically" released

I spent the last 5 minutes debating if I should do it by alphabetical order, which does make for some interesting match-ups honestly

All in on this. I actually began drafting my rankings of all Gaslight songs but got very stressed and stopped. Will eventually complete that!

I think I'm leaving out "Our Father's Sons" only for the fact that it's not technically a released song. Plus, the even numbers make everything easier though. But man, some of these match-ups are hard af. I'll divide each round up too but alphabetic groups (#-d, e-k, etc.)

    The Gaslight Anthem Bracket Challenge

Before this tournament of voting to crown the best song from one of the best bands to come from New Jersey, we have to cover some of the typical ground rules, ladies and gents. I will repost the following and keep up with score updates as often as possible until we have narrowed it down to one.

As always, all participants should be respectful and considerate of opposing opinions/votes. These tournament brackets are meant to be inclusive and fun for everyone. Open discussion on all rounds and votes is encouraged! In order for your votes to count, you must vote on every match-up in the round. Also, to make it fair across the board, no changing votes once yours are posted. Round lengths will range from a minimum of 10hrs to 24hrs, pending run rules and average voters each round of course. I will be keeping score daily and confirming votes via likes. We will work our way through the band's 70 released songs, including B-sides, in ALPHABETICAL ORDER starting with the songs with numerical titles, and then ending with a Championship round. (We will skip "Our Father's Sons" as it is not an officially released track. All of their covers and Brian Fallon's solo projects will be left out too.)

In order to avoid an uneven Championship round, as well as to keep things interesting, we'll have a Wild Card round between the runner-ups of each round for a spot in the finals. There will be 5 matches per round. All matches are listed alphabetically and I will sit out voting unless a tie breaker is required.

    Round One

    45 vs. 1930

    1000 Years vs. Ain't That a Shame

American Slang vs. Angry Johnny & The Radio

    Biloxi Parish vs. Blue Dahlia

Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts vs. Boomboxes & Dictionaries

    GO!!!!!!
