Speaking of Painkillers, does anyone have the bonus songs from that album in good quality? Specifically The Blues, Mary.

I still haven't found them. I think vinyl ripped mp3's is all we will have chance to get though. And I don't even have that.

Yeah, the idea of him reuniting with the producer who helped him make his classic records is definitely intriguing. I was really ready for them to work with someone other than Hutt by the time Handwritten rolled around, but I think now is the right time for a reunion.

That's from last year, around Painkillers time.

I'd prefer Painkillers 2 to Elsie 2 if I'm being honest.

Also, my dream Gaslight Anthem tour where I'd get to see them for the first time.

I'm a bit the opposite. After hearing Hurry Up Starlings which Brian played on and produced, I want more stuff in that vein. No matter what it will all be good though.

Ted Hutt, Brendan O'Brien, and Mike Crossey all produced songs that'd be in my personal Top 10 Brian songs.

I can't say that for Butch Walker. And after hearing Frank Turner's last album I didn't really hear anything production wise to be amazed by. Both Brian and Frank seemed to like working with him though.

I really thought he got something out of Turner. All his previous albums sound like there's something missing to me now, compared to that one. Maybe it was the live vocal takes.

Then again, Stay Gold is my favorite sounding rock record in a long time, so I'm game for just about anyone to team up with him.

Elsie is my second favorite Brian Fallon album by far. I would love a follow up in vein to it

I hope Brian finally records his cover of Atlantic City that he had been playing live as a bside so I can finally get that song out of my head and back in my ears.

    I think God's a painter

butch was perfect for the last one, but wouldn't work for this one imo -- just in terms of what brian's going for.

also i get the feeling the next album will have a much more literary and storytelling bent than elsie, even the if the vibe is similar.

brian's always struck me as someone who's studied lyrics to learn the craft of writing as opposed to someone who's studied prose. so he'll kinda use the same metaphors and images a lot (not that i mind he gives you his fucking soul) just cus the scope of his input was kinda limited.

but it seems from interviews he's really going in when it comes to studying storytelling and the folk tradition. i think he's got it in him to do an amazing isbell-esque record.

That record is the best production he's ever done, imo--on his own records or other artists'. It's one of those records where I literally wouldn't change a thing. Probably an all-time favorite for me at this point.

Revisiting "Painkillers" for the first time in a while. I think it's Fallon's strongest work since the first three Gaslight records. Just seems like he's so comfortable in that sound, and I find the songwriting to be much stronger than the last two Gaslight records.

"Open All Night" is maybe my favorite closer on any Fallon or Gaslight record barring maybe Backseat. I love how that song, and the record as a whole, has this bittersweet feeling of looking back on things that didn't work out but smiling about them rather than wallowing in it.

Really looking forward to what he does next, pumped he's recording in New Orleans and pumped he's back with Ted Hutt. Would love if we get the record by the year's end.
