I could be wrong but I don't think the debate is about song quality? I think it's about "it should have been on the album, not a B-side". BF has said many times he screwed up putting Desire on there over Blue Dahlia.

But while we're on the subject, She Loves You as bonus track from American Slang was the MUCH bigger omission to me. That's an incredible tune.

While we're on the subject part 2, Georgia being left off of Painkillers, also a huge omission.

Lastly, I can't believe he never put Georgia nor those other 2 songs (Blues Mary, Digging a Ditch) on Itunes or in any digital format.

I understand Record Store Day but it's a BS move when he has hardcore fans who want to pay for and own everything and don't do vinyl.

Ohhhhhhh okay I gotchu, I was very confused how there could even be a major debate over its quality.

As for your 2 other comments, I also 100% agree. Low Love never did much for me but I really enjoy Georgia a lot.

This also surprises me, considering he was tweeting at someone once and saying they'd be available digitally. Granted, I grabbed the Georgia EP and do spin it, I'd love to listen to those songs outside of my home.

  8. SeƱor and the Queen doesn't get enough recognition. Great little EP.

The only version of The Blues, Mary I'll listen to is the audio from this live performance. It's honesty stunning and gets me every time. I swear this needs to be my wedding song, haha.

I love Blue Dahlia, but I have no idea where I'd slide it into Handwritten. I'd be inclined to make it the penultimate track, but then that requires a lot of shuffling of the other tracks. I kind of get why they left it off if that's the reasoning, but other than that it was a huge misstep.

That slide guitar is the perfect addition to this song.

Without changing anything else about Handwritten, I think swapping "Blue Dahlia" in for "Desire" at track 9 makes for a much stronger album. I don't hate "Desire" but it doesn't really do anything for me either, whereas I think "Blue Dahlia" is an absolutely incredible song. The logic being why have a 3-star song on the album when you have a 5-star song hanging around as a b-side, and its not some radical departure in sound either - it fits the style of the album perfectly.

Blue Dahlia is obviously the penultimate song for me. Fade out right into National Anthem. Beautiful

I got the Georgia download (not great quality), but are the other 2 songs out there too???

I think it was also talked about earlier, but the only songs I believe I am missing are the two Painkillers bonus songs from the 7" box set. I don't get the sense there are non-vinyl ripped files out there, but I don't even have those.

It took me a few years to really appreciate the Senor and the Queen EP. But man, that EP hits me now. Wherefore Art Thou, Elvis is such a perfect little song. Love Brian's writing on that one.

That was the album solidified it for me - I think Senor and the Queen had just come out when I heard SOS and I liked it - but Senor and the Queen was just amazing. Ended up seeing them at Asbury Lanes like a month or two after that, probably the best live show I have ever seen.

the first GA album I heard was 59' Sound and compared to SOS and S&Q it was so polished that I was actually turned off by the sound of anything prior, it took me a while to get into those albums but some of that bands best songs are from before 59' Sound was even released.

Yeah absolutely. I'd probably rank SOS third, which I don't think is a very popular opinion here but I love that album. So many catchy singalongs and I'd put songs like We Came To Dance, 1930, Wooderson, and The Navesink Banks right up there with some of their best songs.

can't be made fun of Prestigious

I can't remember which of the billion Fallon interviews it was, but around the time they did that crazy Australian tour post-Get Hurt when they were just playing whatever they felt like every night, Brian said the Senor and the Queen is maybe his favorite work the band has done. Sink or Swim was also in his top three. I love how they approach their old tunes and the perspective they have on their old work, so many bands try to shed early material like an old skin. I think it helps that Brian was 26-27 when the band got together, they don't have those cringey tunes like a Tell All Your Friends or Take This to Your Grave for lack of better examples.

I can't believe we're almost at the 3rd anniv. of Get Hurt.

I hope they come back soon, but am by no means rushing them to do so.
