I am like many of us are and yet I’ve never met a single one of you lol

I’m looking forward to it being cold tomorrow. Driving up to Milwaukee for The 1975; there’s nothing I love more than rolling the windows down on the drive home to stay awake, especially when it’s cold.

That'd be awesome however he cancelled the rest of the E Street tour because of the peptic ulcer so who knows if he'd be fit enough.

"Goodnight Springton, there will be no encores!"

I first came across the Gaslight Anthem on this site in 2012, back when it was AbsolutePunk. It was the promo article for '45' that drew me in. It was a school night. I shrugged and thought, why not, I'll give it a go. Soon Handwritten became the soundtrack to my final year of high school. In Australia you turn 18, finish high school, get your drivers licence and can legally drink all in the same year. So it's a big year. '59 Sound, Slang, SOS and Senor all came later, but for me, for a long time, Handwritten was everything.

I remember hearing '45' on the radio in a remote mountain town in country Victoria, thinking "shit, they've made it now".

I remember waiting at the train station for my best mate to meet me. It was 2013. We were heading into town to see the Gaslight Anthem at the Palace Theatre, Melbourne - a venue that no longer exists.

I remember jamming in a garage with the same mate. "How about this" he says, guitar slung over his shoulder. It's 'Keepsake'. "Yeah, that's a good one".

I remember listening to 'National Anthem' with a girl I used to know. Now she just screams how I promised her more than this...

I'm sitting in my study with a gin and soda, listening to History Books for the first time. It's late. I'm 29 now, my best mate has moved away. He's married with two kids. I hope I'll see him soon, so we can listen to this band together again, like we did when we were young.

The Gaslight Anthem are special, from Jersey to Melbourne. This record is good.

This rules. I keep wanting to call out specific stretches on the album as being great, but it’s excellent beginning to end. Autumn is very easily my favorite so far. Love that song.

Brian Fallon: “I wanted to make sure I could write songs… | Kerrang!

"So, in Brian’s own words, he decided to “use the bat phone” for the first time ever: wanting to make sure that he was absolutely making the right move, he decided to seek the advice of one of his long-time heroes, Bruce Springsteen.

“I texted him saying, ‘I need to talk to you, and it’s about the band,’” he says. “And he’s like, ‘I’m free on Thursday.’ And I didn’t realise that the Thursday that he met me was on his birthday. He went out of his way to meet me for pizza on his birthday (laughs). And I had a legit talk with him about, ‘Where do I begin? How do I do this? Here are the problems…’ and he just laid it out for me. He understood that he has knowledge and experience, and it’s invaluable. What’s good is that somebody like that would take the time to share with me some advice that I truly believe probably helped the band get back together.”

After his pizza with The Boss, Brian challenged himself to write four brand-new Gaslight songs. If they were up to scratch, he’d call drummer Benny Horowitz and tell him what Bruce had said. Two weeks later, pretty much everything was in motion…"

    thank you, boss.

Umm i don't want to be greedy but...

Have you written any more new stuff lately?
“I always have ideas going, and there’s little stuff here and there. I’m sure we’ll start to make new stuff soon. We always do – we’re always moving around and making music. It’s just what we do!”

    WHAT?!? EFF YEAH.
