The first song that I heard from this band was Summer Shandy (and I like it a lot), so probably don't trust my opinion haha

I don't care much for Holy Fuck or Peace Sign. I'd argue those are two worst on the album. I don't think I hate Everyone But You as much as everyone else. I'm enjoying the album, but other than Grand Finale, I don't think there are major jams on here. Trampoline and Chips are close, but even those songs I feel something is missing.

It's been quite a weekend. I listened to this like at least 10-15 times and my love for it has grown with each listen. So good. So so so so so so good.

So this is good but not big on Vacation Town tbh, Everyone But You is a fun song and nothing else tbh, not getting the h8

Also, odds on EbY gonna be so much better live

Everyone But You feels shoehorned in at the end as a potential 'single' that could make them go big. Doesn't seem to fit the style of the rest of the album at all. Or their style, really. In fact if I heard it without knowing who sang it, would never have guessed TFB, bar a couple of small vocal quirks

Funny you mention the not knowing who sang it, because the versus totally don't sound like them. The chorus does, but I remember the first time I listened to it thinking, 'this doesn't even sound like them.'

i feel that way on a bunch of the songs on the record. does brian sing everything on here? there are definitely parts that don't seem like him

Love the verses on Trampoline, but then the chorus kicks in...

Liked this a lot more on second listen. Only song that’s iffy for me is Everyone But You. It’s a decent song but it really sticks out for some reason.

...and it’s even better than the verses?

This album feels like a continuation of the self-titled. It definitely strays from the fun verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus format that was so prominent on BOT. I think it will be a grower.

Current favorites: Peace Sign, Vacation Town, Raining

Yeah, they really smoothed over his vocal quirks with auto-tune. That, or he is purposely trying not to sing like he normally does.

Kind of caught me off guard to compare it to self-titled at first, but I guess it kind of feels like a middle ground between that album and Back On Top.

The vocal melodies are really what make me feel that way. When I heard Vacation Town with the rest of the album, I immediately felt the same way I do when I listen to the self-titled.

Eh, I disagree. The pre-chorus is even worse than the chorus. I just think the song completely changes momentum after the verses.

Only really fuck with about half this album, which is a bit sad. Raining is still an absolutely fantastic song, though.

Everyone But You is a fine song to me. I mean it's not necessarily a highlight, but I think it's fun, and it's interesting to hear Brian push his voice into different areas on those verses.

I really don't have much of an issue with Everyone But You. It doesn't seem too far astray from the rest of the tracks to be deemed marginally worse than the others.

Not to turn this into a rankings, but this is where I'm at after six full listens. The album continues to grow on me. Still think it's their weakest though (not a bad thing as I enjoy all their albums a lot) and not a lot of standout tracks. I feel like all these songs would be at the lower end of any of their other albums.

    Grand Finale

    Chips
Vacation Town (didn't even like this song when it was initially released)
    Raining
    Trampoline
    Ocean
    Far Drive
    BAE
    Everyone But You

    Peace Sign

    You Used to Say

It's fine. As with the last one, there are a few high points that are the strongest of the band's career and the rest is whatever. Enjoy S/T and TOTH much more for the most part; however, listening to their discography over the past weekend has made me realize how strong it is. Even the weaker songs have moments of pop brilliance. The band is very good at being weird and incredibly catchy at the same time.
