keep hearing about this band but never listened. this is cool, not at all what I expected. pretty

new goodnight moonlight single is so good. none of their other stuff sounds like this at all - way more indie pop/electronic - but this is like straight empire empire/mineral worship and its rad as hell

 

there was an EOTY list I was going through last weekend that they were on, don't remember which one but there were a lot of gems on there that I hadn't heard. this was one of them, really lovely album

 

If you live in the Chicagoland area, you should come to this. Joie De Vivre do not play shows often these days.

Anthony Sanders of The Island of Misfit Toys was accused of sexual abuse, whichever Mark was also a member of, perhaps that’s who you are thinking of?

 

I remember that happening as well, but I’m pretty certain Mark was involved as well:

I was actually hanging out at his bands show a few weeks ago he invited me to. I had no idea it was also him involved in sexual abuse. Do you know if him and the victim reached any closure? He’s still pretty active in the Chicago music scene and most people in emo bands here are still friends with him.

 

no i have no idea tbh, which is why i have lots of mixed feelings on it all. Accusations happened, Misfit broke up, and nothing was ever talked about again. It just always weirded me his other associated bands never made comments about it (joie and kittyhawk).

Im not one to try and dig into peoples lives, so i've never tried to dig deep into what happeneded. For all I know this situation has been resolved/they were held accountable. As an outsider to the chicago scene, knowing the information of the original accusations and never seeing any update, it's near impossible for me to not feel uncomfortable seeing him in bands still.

 

I always thought it was just Anthony who was accused. Now I know I guess.
