This came out in 2021 but it is really great. I just discovered it. A mix of emo/post-hardcore/math rock.

    i agree

  8. Both are pretty much perfect, but I still lean towards Power of Failing.

  9. Power of Failing doesn't have "Palisade" so that automatically doesn't make it as good as EndSerenading :-)

Daydrunks - When You Talk To Me

RIYL: The Sonder Bombs, Knope, Macseal

Okay so this is really good. The guitar riffs are just so nice - the kind that feel like you could listen to them on loop for an hour.

I haven’t listened to much of that era of emo, besides American Football S/T and JEW’s Clarity. What do you guys consider some of the touchstones of that era?

New wylie hopkins EP is very good. Gives me STRONG Daphne Loves Derby vibes mixed with elements of dltzk.

    Also...

The Appleseed Cast - The End of the Ring Wars

and these next two are not widely considered emo but might as well be because they influenced the genre

Modest Mouse - This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About
... and The Lonesome Crowded West

At the Drive-in - Relationship of Command

  16. I'll add The Anniversary's Designing a Nervous Breakdown, Jawbreaker's Dear You, Pedro the Lion's It's Hard to Find a Friend

Everyone else touched on the big ones but I will add this afternoons malady by jejune, stereo by Christie front drive, and amateurs and professionals by penfold as slightly lesser known standouts

WHY NOT - VERY WHY NOT

not sure whether to call this glitch pop or emo. It’s pretty cool though.
