Loud Harp's new album has grown on me a ton. I would love to see them live one day.

Also just got done with my first listen of John Mark's new album and I'm really really enjoying this. I love the journey he paints for you. Some early favs are God of American Success, Persephone and Body in Motion. That guest singer in Body in Motion brings that songs to a whole other level.

It's a great album. Glad you've had chance to listen. I'm a big fan of Liz Vice so it's nice to see her featured. She apparently does backing vocals on a few other songs too.

Yeah I heard her on I think Fumbling Towards the Light too. It's funny right now one of my roommates didn't really like the album while the other is fascinated by it. He's analyzing everything and interpreting all the lyrics for me. It's great haha

Citizens & Saints have signed with Humble Beast. Fascinating development. It's their first non-hip hop signing:

Also, are they called Citizens again? Confused by that bit...!

I was so excited about that development. That's the perfect fit in so many ways even though I didn't expect them to sign a non-hip hop artist. I am also confused about the band name though. :)

The email press release had Citizens & Saints in the header but then the email referred to them as Citizens and said they had a short stint as C&S. They're Twitter name has changed to Citizens but the handle is still @Citizens_Saints!

The issues must have cleared up but once you've changed it once, it's not worth changing back in my opinion.

Matt referred to them as just Citizens on Bad Christian recently, too, but I just chalked it up to him being more familiar with that than Citizens & Saints.

"I don't want to dance anymore with dark nostalgia
I don't want to hold hands with the dreams of a dead man"

John Mark has a way with words.

The new Beautiful Eulogy album has finally been announced and it's got some GREAT features. Citizens, Kings Kaleidoscope, Aaron Strumpel, Latifah Alattas (Page CXVI, The Autumn Film). Bring on October 20th!

Excited about all those features. Aaron Strumpel's record Elephants is a unique thing of beauty.

Yes! I enjoy Birds and Bright Star too. His voice is great - it will be interesting to hear him on a hip hop track.

I actually haven't listened to Birds yet, but Bright Star is a beautiful worship record.

I'm intrigued to see how this turns out. On the one hand, Yet, Broken Voice & Behold are three of my favourite releases. On the other hand, the last EP felt too short and hard to get into. I've probably said that before on this thread - either way, they're recording! Will it be out before the end of the year?

Oh that's cool! It's been awhile since I've played any of their music.

Yeah, I had the same thought. Particularly Yet, which is one of my favourite albums. I've hardly listened to that in the last 18 months.

i have the same feelings about viscera, but if the ep thing means we ultimately get more music overall, i'm down for it.
such cool dudes. one of my biggest regrets is turning down the opportunity to intern/"disciple" under them at their church a few years back.

Oh man, that would have been great. How did you get that opportunity in the first place? Sorry you regret your decision.

The last track Open Letter is pretty great though.

they posted an open call for it on their facebook. not sure if they still run the program, but it was a year-long stint working under either Jeremiah or Aaron, depending on what your skills were. definitely a cool opportunity, but would have been a cross-country move, and I probably wouldn't have ended up with my current gf if I had gone.

Phineas have joined Solid State Records.

Not a band that I listen to frequently but they seem like a good fit and are competent at what they do.

    I agree.

It's not that the music is bad - it's more that the content didn't grab me like their previous three four releases and then, because it was only five (and a bit) songs, it was over before it began. If it had been two or three songs longer it might have retained my interest and I might have dug in a little bit more.

Sorry, I can't explain it better than that, ha!

Never been much into Phineas, but that's cool. I should look who's on the solid state roster now

Yeah totally get what you mean. I still need to listen to Yet. I've only heard the newest EP and Behold

Broken Voice. Now. You can listen to Yet later. Hahaha.

It's interesting. My Epic and Andrew Peterson are my two favorite artists ever but both are pretty subtle. I thought Yet was a less interesting take on As Cities Burn when I first heard it and I didn't find AP's music very interesting at all. Both crept in slowly and rooted themselves deeper than any band or songwriter ever has for me though.

Also, Phinehas signing to Solid State is like the most delayed reaction I've ever seen. The band's been excellent and a perfect fit for years!

I'll have to check out both then!

Man I love Andrew Peterson. I think you were the one who indirectly introduced him to me on one of your old rants about how good and subtle his music creeps in haha.

Yet and Broken Voice (and a few songs on Behold) have mewithoutYou level lyrics for me (that's my highest musical praise). That's why I connected with them so much.

I agree that there was a ACB vibe going on in Yet. It was the lyrics though - song after song floored me. Man, I need to relisten.

My wife likes Broken Voice so that's good news too.

"One of" my old rants because I've probably ranted so much about Andrew Peterson. The man couldn't pay me enough for the publicity I give him.

mewithoutYou level lyrics is about the standard. There really is nothing like listening to Behold or Broken Voice while reading the lyrics.
