like for example, this week could’ve been something like joyce manor or tssf (new releases) or in utero (25 yr anniversary)

I could see it being maybe a new release club with like, a couple new releases suggested each weekend and people can choose. Don’t want to stick to one person, one album or we’ll run into the same problem of people who don’t care to listen not doing it and on some weeks you’d have no one pushing their horizons.

I encourage everyone to use this thread still for concert reviews or new listen posts. Let’s all keep talking about the music. That’s what this was here for to begin with

I think getting away from primarily review writing would take a lot of pressure off some people. At least for me, I wanted to do each album and user justice by doing a quality review and that just takes time and listens, which you don't always have. What iCarly suggested allows people to just chime in or post a review of their own if they feel up to it. It would also make things more of a discussion with back and forth dialogue. You'd get pockets of it in the previous model, but with everyone doing the same album, everyone would be on the same general topic.

  7. I like music and I like this club. Some good suggestions in here already!

If it hadn’t been for the old format I would have never discovered stuff like Conditions and Matt Skiba & The Sekrets, so I am thankful for that

I would like to keep connected with some people from this club as I befriended some of you, keeping in touch and recommending an album or two would still be fun for me.

I honestly enjoy writing reviews, but it was a pretty big time commitment to write something that I felt did an album justice. Usually multiple listens while taking notes and a decent time spent typing the actual review. Something a bit less time consuming would be nice

I like that. Kind of like a cross between CMCS and the listening party thread.

Yeah this had a good run and I’ll miss it. It was fun listening to new stuff and having to actually digest it properly so I could review it. I’ve also met some real nice people through this too which is super awesome.

Thanks for all the hard work over the months @Bad Frequencies and all the other staff members. I look forward to seeing whatever this turns into in the future.

Also shout out to @anonimito for getting me in Jome and @bachna84 for getting me into Deafheaven. I still listen to these artists a hell of a lot since discovering them here.

I’m definitely guilty of falling away but just wanted to add this had a really good run and I’m excited for the next iteration. Still listen to my first rec (GOY) and plenty of others regularly. It was also like a nice fill in for slow release weeks.

Big thanks to the staff for a job well done and long live CMCS (in some form or another).

This was a fantastic concept that unfortunately life got in the way for myself of. I would like to thank everyone who made this what it is; a haven to discuss and find new artists and albums. I got fantastic recommendations which have all stuck with me do far. I'd like to apologise for falling off the wagon due to a few things but I'm excited for the next iteration.

Thanks to the staff and moderators who kept the cogs turning on this machine. You done a fantastic job and I hope we all keep in touch one way or another.

I like the suggested idea. Most of my music listening is in the car so I can't really take notes while driving so writing a review was hard. I'll still write the reviews I already owe.

Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of this—I’ve discovered some awesome new music and then life got a little busy so I haven’t been able to keep up lately. I do want to review the albums I was recently given and I’d love any recommendations for albums on dealing with death/grief (I’ll likely have “Post Traumatic” and “The Black Parade” on repeat). My sister passed away last week so I’ll need a good playlist since music is my coping mechanism for everything. ❤️

Give the album Keep You by Pianos Become The Teeth a go. About the loss of his father but I find it very good for dealing with any form of grief.

I really hope you are okay.

Also, I like the idea of covering a new album that comes out once a week, that would be fun, and simply discussing it.

So sorry to hear that, I’m sure it goes without saying that all of us in here feel for you and hope you’re doing ok.

I’m not sure sure if any of these are your sort of thing but these were the albums that came to mind for me. All 4 are focused around the loss of loved ones.

Butch Walker - Afraid Of Ghosts (singer-songwriter stuff)
Touché Amoré- Stage Four (quite intense post-hardcore)
Eels - Electro-shock Blues (quirky alt rock)
Temple of The Dog - S/T (grunge)
