    So for the bonus round of The Music Club I was partnered with @skurt and here's my thoughts on my first recommendation;

Mat Kerekes - Luna & The Wild Blue Everything (2016)

Mat Kerekes is the lead singer in the band Citizen, a band I've heard a few songs from but never really been inclined to dig deeper. This is his 3rd solo album and it's really good, the kind of album where the more you listen the more it draws you in. It's sort of laidback, singer/songwriter acoustic rock with hints of emo and folk but the big drawing point for me is Mat's voice, I found it to be very soothing and emotive. If I was to pick fault with the album, then the back end isn't as strong as the front and for me the first four songs are the best on the album.
I can see me going back to this album on a fairly regular basis and I'm now looking forward to checking out some of Citizen's back catalogue, cheers for the rec Skurt, I should get my second write up posted tomorrow.

It's nobody's battle but your own. Prestigious

It's his debut solo album. Strongly recommend checking out Citizen's new record As You Please. Their most consistent and mature work to date.

Posting from last round! Trying to get caught up. I was paired with @nickyeatworld.

Satellite Stories - Phrases to Break the Ice

This was a super fun listen. It took me back to the early 2000's indie pop rock days. I LOVE the production on this album. I also get vibes of Two Door Cinema and Vampire Weekend. This band is super catchy and I can only imagine how fun a live show of theirs would be. Anti-Lover, Sirens, and Come Back Conversation are my top 3.

The Exies - A Modern Way of Living With the Truth

I was not expecting to hear what I heard when started listening to this. The 11-14 year old in me came out for a reappearance to rock out. The album kicks in at the second track, Lay Your Money Down, and rips! Such 90's hard rock/alternative sounds on this album. The music isn't even the best part, in my opinion, because I was hooked on the vocals the entire time. I find myself drawn to some of the heavier stuff on this album too. My Top 3: Lay You Money Down, Dose, and These Are The Days.

  9. This is awesome! Silence was my world when I was an angsty high schooler. They were my favorite band for years around that time.

I’ve been getting my mom back to home life after mental rehabilitation for two years. It’s been a long couple of weeks, I miss posting as much as I used to but my downtime has been hectic and sporadic. Miss you guys, hopefully will be back to normal schedule soon.

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

Just a reminder that throughout tomorrow and Monday we will be celebrating the new year chorus style here:

CHORUS NEW YEARS EVE PARTY (Sponsored by the CMCS)

Come discuss your favorite albums and memories of 2017 and your hopes for 2018 with everyone, chorus style!

We will also be running a dual charity drive, with proceeds going towards RAINN( Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, providing assistance to victims of such crimes) and the OML fund (One More Light. Run by Linkin Park this fund provides natural disaster and suicide prevention assistance). Given events of this year, both seemed fitting. Donating is optional though, so even if you cannot spare, feel free to join in the festivities!

I started listening to my recommended album this week and something struck me as off and then I realized Spotify was on shuffle so I listened to it out of order smh!! I was like wow this is the oddest sequence to an album ever. Now it all makes sense!

Long overdue but here are my Session thoughts for what the earthling @skurt recommended.

    Protest The Hero- Fortress
I knew from the second I heard those opening chords that this album was going to be one to train to, and I was not wrong! My Saiyan intuition proved correct. Very much in the same vein as All That Remains musically, but with a different style for singing this album got my blood pumping. I have listened to it multiple times, and I will say that the guitars in this album shred and are the part I mainly focused on. The lyrics were alright and so was the singing and drums, but it’s like watching a Saiyan and an Namekian fighting someone together; they may both get their hits in but the Saiyan will pull the best punches. I have already made Bloodmeat the ring tone on my phone and I have had Bone Marrow and Limb From Limb in my head for over the past two weeks. This album is the super Saiyan of The recommendations I’ve gotten in this club.

Broken Social Scene- Forgiveness Rock Record

This was a trippy album! I listened to this when traveling from Florida to Pennsylvania last week, but I would have sworn I was in my space pod heading back to Planet Vegeta stoned. Combining rock and techno/electro elements, this album was a journey unlike any other this warrior had taken recently! It wasn’t the blood pumping, training and battle enducing anger driving rock I usually listen to, but a soothing psychedelic experimental ride. Two thumbs up from your friendly neighborhood Saiyan!

@Mary V and I will be exchanging this week.
    She will be listening to:
    Converge-The Dusk In Us
    All Pigs Must Die-Hostage Animal

    I will be listening to:
    Bec Sandridge-In The Fog
    Alvvays-Antisocialites

It couldn’t be a more polar opposite week for us if we tried but that’s the great thing about music and that there is always something new to discover!

    Happy New Year!
