I get the fall-ness of "Soft Animal" and it's one of my all-time favorite songs, but it was also the first new song I heard after our twins were born and I will always connect it with that.

I'm sure you can find a hidden gem local band.

Im from a town of 6,000 people in Montana, my band is the hidden gem hahaha

  6. I was really split about which direction I wanted to take this one, held down Coffee since it (Copeland in general tbh) was my kneejerk reaction to picking fall music. It’s a song that belongs in a Gilmore Girls or When Harry Met Sally, cozy romcom type of environment

This list could go on for maybe 10 others I felt strongly about, but here are a few of the others that I’d whittled down my top nominees to

    Sonic Youth - Incinerate
    Moving Mountains - Eastern Leaves
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
    Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
Death Cab For Cutie - We Laugh Indoors

I considered "Hudson" by Moving Mountains - "Fall is near / October is the month I swore you in" - but I had just used it in another league.

I have so many visceral memories of walking through the chilly Chicago streets in the fall of '04 with Futures blasting in my headphones that I couldn't help but go with my favorite song from that album.

  9. Yeah, a cut from Futures was a great pick. One of the first albums I can remember feeling was really enhanced by listening to during this time of year

Hudson would’ve been really good too! That whole album, really. It’s probably my #1 of all time and I probably should’ve picked a song from it on that merit alone

  10. I’m also glad Jimmy was picked in this round because songs by bands from my hometown is gonna be tough to whittle down, and them already being submitted will help to justify nitpicking them off

Probably gonna be a breeze for @irthesteve though, not that many bands out of Southern California or anything

I'm making sure my pick is hyper focused to my exact city I grew up in, but yes.... we have ahem... a few options haha

I will admit, I was a bit scared to submit "august" just in case the month of August doesn't count as fall and everyone would make fun of me

Ugh, the word Hudson reminded me that Step by Vampire Weekend would be a great fall song

  16. Like I mentioned in my comment, it totally works because it's about looking back at summer. I did actually scrap at least one song idea for this theme because it mentions August though.

The fact it was only on 3 points before I gave you nearly all my points is a travesty!

As a lifelong resident of a big city, there are a host of awesome bands I can go with, but I think I'm gonna go for the only one of them I have a band t-shirt of.

Loved this - and can definitely understand that its's more spring-ish to some, especially pretty sure there's a lyric that says "First spring sunburst". But he also mentions the rustling of the falling leaves multiple times lol.

For me it's probably more fall because that's when I discovered the record. I was living in FL at the time, and actually think I just started lurking a bit around these forums. I read about this record, and went back to PA to visit in October I believe, so Goodness along with Bon Iver's 22, A Million and Jimmy Eat World's Integrity Blues are the records that defined that fall for me.

Love how music can be so closely associated with specific times and memories.

Gonna take a stab in the dark here, but I think it may be obvious which picks are mine and @The Lucky Moose in this round.
