    This Logsdon Peche-n-Brett is tasty.

Personally I think you didn't miss much by not getting to Dark Horse. Every single time I've been there, the only things on tap are exactly what I can buy in bottles at any grocery store in Michigan. I get having staples on tap, but put some pub-only shit on there that isn't centered around a big bottle release. It's super annoying.

That said, they do have one of the better brewery tours I've been on. $10, big tour, you go to the vip room and drink some beers that are way better than in actual taproom and then you get a glass at the end.

Also, I enjoy both cloudy NEIPA's and clear IPA's. For me, it's become more centered around the malt levels in beers and if the IPA is more floral or fruity. I prefer tropical/citrus hops over the more floral hops -- always taste perfumy or soapy to me -- but beyond that, good beer is good beer. I definitely prefer NEIPA's over things like Sculpin and whatnot, but I don't understand the need for beers to be right down the BJCP style guidelines.

Additionally, Cicerone certification is something I want to pursue but I agree on the stonefruit stuff. I know it's just a catch all for things like peach/mango/etc, but ... just say peach/mango/etc.

For me, give me anything with Nelson, Citra, Galaxy and I'm all in. Mosaic can be hit and miss -- sometimes it can get a bit too floral. I also really think Amarillo is underrated and can be great as a bittering or late-addition hop. My work made a pale ale with Cascade and Hallertauer which turned out very nice.

I would be curious what hops people like outside of the big four or five (citra, nelson, galaxy, mosaic, etc).

What do ya'll think of hopped/hoppy lagers? One of my roommates is obsessed with Jack's Abby Hoponius Union and I recently tried Sixpoint Tesla, and I just can't stand them. They legit disgust me and I find even freak Coors Lite more drinkable than them. It feels weird.

I generally like Citra and Galaxy hops. I rarely pay attention closely but know that some of my favorite beers are built around them

    Us either, womp womp.

Was also going to say untappd, it's obviously biased because more casual beer drinkers use it. I have a friend that doesn't like IPAs, but will still check them in on untappd when she tries them and will rate them a 1. Like, I get that you don't like it, but that doesn't make it BAD. Check it in but don't rate it, that's what I do when it's a style I'm not particularly fond of.

Mosaic is my absolute fav. I'd say anything with Mosaic/Citra is generally an auto-like for me.

Picked up a Evil Twin Biscotti Break and Stillwater Is Nothing Big Bunny Is Everything (which is a ridiculous name). Excited to try both this weekend.

Love this beer. I opened up a bottle with a few friends and one said he got plastic phenols out of it. I mean sure, everyone's palate is different and sensitive to other phenolics, but I thought he was insane for wanting to drain pour it.

Couldn't agree more, exclusives are where it's at and definitely will keep me coming back to said brewery. NY doesn't get a whole lot of Dark Horse variety, I see a ton of Scotty Karate that sits on shelves and when we get Plead the 5th it's immediately gone. That Bourbon Barrel Plead the 5th though.. holy shit. Had to trade for that bad boy.

I'm all for hoppy lagers. I enjoy Jack's Abby quite a bit and I can't think of a single offering from them I didn't think was great.

I love Azacca, Amarillo, Galaxy, and Moteuka. Transmitter in LIC made a Golden Ale that was dry hopped with Hallertau Blanc and it was most excellent. I also think Equinox hops are great.

For me, Dark Horse makes a handful of really good beers, led by Plead the 5th. The BBA version is great. I just had a BBA Toonilla which is a vanilla stout; the barrel-aged version added coffee from their coffee shop. Outside of that, I like Smells Like A Safety Meeting and Double Crooked Tree. But I think Scotty Karate is too one-note as a scotch ale (would rather have something like Dirty Bastard), but the BBA version gave it some much-needed depth and character that I enjoyed. That aside, I think that they're just okay. I do think it's a must-stop if you're not from Michigan. As for me, it's thirty minutes away and I just never want to go there. It's annoying; they could be way better than they are.

It's. really small thing, but I hate the designs for all of Dark Horse beers.

That being said, Plead the 5th is great and I still need to get my hands on Toonilla

They're awful. Doesn't effect the taste of the beer but it does effect people grabbing it off a shelf.

I know for a fact before I got more into craft beer I avoided them because of the art.

I had similar feelings about Hoppin' Frog when I first started getting into beer. I didn't like the art and I thought the prices were insane.

True, haven't had much from them that I've enjoyed. I visited their tasting room last September and had Barrel Aged BORIS van wink, which I thought was fantastic. So, that's one.

It's nice that there's a small brewery in Port Huron by my house. Thumbcoast is great and if for some reason you ever find yourself out here, check it out.
