I checked 22 beers in 2014 (19 of those in December), and 325 since. I spent just under a year in Canada and got to 100 unique Canadian beers just before I moved this week. I check in flights but not samples, or else I'd have a quite a bit more.

    That's ridiculous.

It's insane how much the bottle share I go to every other week has inflated that number. I've been using Untappd basically since it launched (Nov. 2010), so it took me a little over 4 years to hit 1000, then just over a year to 2500. Doesn't even make sense, honestly.

Working in a bar that has 50 taps of beer, the majority being 1/6th barrels meaning we go through them quickly and put on something else always 'helped' to inflate numbers. I found myself 'chasing' and paying attention to numbers when I got close to 1000 and then I was like "what am I doing? Just enjoy the beers" and haven't paid much attention since. Partially because one of my good friends is at like 4000 check ins.

Between being busy a lot on the weekends and just general laziness, I let those sours I made sit for the last 3 months. Was worried about getting some autolysis by now, but I just pulled a sample of the gose and it's tasting pretty solid. Added 4lbs of pineapple to it that I'll let it sit on for a couple weeks. The berliner is the same exact recipe, so I'm hoping that'll be good as well. Going to keg that one up in a bit.

Dope! You should send out some homebrew ;-)

Haha, I'll keep you in mind if I start bottling again. Kegging is so much easier, but I want to do some long term sours and big stouts that I'd rather bottle than keg.

Had an interview for an assistant manager job at a Brewdog bar yesterday. Sat and talked about beer for an hour, drank a few beers with the manager, and then I got given a bunch of free beers that "I just had to try". So I'm feeling it went pretty well!

Going to a brewhouse in Romeo today after work. They have Oskar Blues Death by Coconut and Founders Sleeper Cell on tap, I'm excited to try both.

Love Cycle, we always hit it up when we're in Tampa for Hunahpu's Day.

Any Chicago folk going to 350 fest on Saturday? Bayside and the Menz are playing for crying out loud

Yeah I'd say that as well:

I earned the 500 badge in March of 2014, the 1000 badge in November of 2014, and the 2500 badge in June of 2016.

So 500 unique beers in 8 months, and then 1500 more unique beers in 15 months. Damn.

figured so, but for free wedding beer it's better than shock top and budweiser!

I would definitely rather drink a budwiser than that.

Hey, I'm coming to LA next weekend. Any new places opened up since last year that I should hit? I definitely want to do the Smog City/Monkish/Phantom Carriage circle again.

There's two new ones near that triangle called Scholb and Cosmic, but I haven't had time to check them out yet so I have no opinions there... my #1 is always The Bruery, but it's a bit of a drive of course, they just opened Bruery Terreux though which is all sours/saisons, I really really want to go there ASAP. And Firestone Walker opened in Venice Beach, their barrell aged and sours are top notch

So I've spent the last few weeks since I got back from San Diego trying to figure out how I can move to the States and start up some form of job in a brewing capacity.
Sadly the US government seems intent on not allowing people into your country.

Right now I'm currently looking into a two year brewing degree in Copenhagen. The course is taught by brewers from Mikkeller, Carlsberg and Amager Bryghus to name a few.
Definitely might be worth postponing moving to the States in order to get a brewing degree. Would give me a big foot in the door.

That's awesome, dude. Best of luck. I like my job, but I still always debate taking a brewing course and trying to break into the industry.

Yeahhh that beer is disgusting. Not even being elitist, it's that bad. I'd rather not drink.
