One of my friends loaned me the draft manual and I fell asleep looking at it.

Don't doubt that. I find draft systems to be mostly pretty boring.

P.S.: Good to see you round these parts, bud. Hope all is well.

Whole bunch of Decadent beers are here. Hype

Very hit or miss. I will say the French Toast DIPA tasted a lot better on tap than by can. Thus far, their Toasted Marshmellow DIPA I think is the best received.

Ahh that stinks then. I got Tropical Mango Double, Strawberry Creamsicle and French Toast

Never tried the Tropical Mango. Strawberry is good but definitely a strange/unique flavor for a beer. French Toast is good, but be prepared for a very boozy aftertaste.

I honestly think most of these sweet flavors would work better as stouts. They did that when they first started but then switched to DIPAs once the canning went live. Maybe things will change once they open up their shop.

Any other NYC-based folks considering going to Other Half's Green City event? It's an IPA festival which looks like fun but tickets are pricey. $100 for GA and $300 VIP.

The Decadent beers were good but a bit too sweet for me. Doesn’t really taste like a beer

Still on the fence. I would get a GA ticket, but concerned about how much will be gone by the time the VIP is through.

Which one did you like the most?

I didn't try the French Toast but I liked the Strawberry over the Tropical Mango. Too much going on in that one. Both were relatively artificial compared to other beers of the same ilk. I still think Shoutao Peach Slushie by Omnipollo is the best in that style of Fruit/Lactose that I've had.

I wouldn't worry about it. The only time I've ever seen stuff run out during a VIP session was at CBC last year when literally everyone there for the VIP session was in line for Bokkereyder.

New Orleans brewery recs? Or Louisiana in general? Would be mostly through the southern part of the state...

Fruit and lactose is Grimm's MO, but for sours only. Otherwise Other Half and J Wakfield made an amazing tropical IPA called Florida Plates. Tasted exactly like a fruit cup.

Tastes like french toast, if the batter was doused with whiskey.

I hope you see what I am saying that this would play better as a stout than the DIPA it is.

Absolutely, the DIPA taste is completely missing at this point. Would work much better with a different base

I mean, I give them a lot of credit for being so new and essentially being a gypsy brewery. I think they will eventually have to tone these down in order to make them more accessible.

The beauty of a lot of high ABV DIPAs like Other Half is how well they hide the booze. It's something Decadent can work on.
