I like Murphys...and Guinness, really. The limited addition Guinness cans looked tight, in my opinion.

 

A lot of good oatmeal stouts fall under that range too: Rogue Shakespeare, Anderson Valley, Young's, Samuel Smith. I think the key is having that something "extra" in the stout. The oatmeal gives it a nice, smooth, silky mouthfeel, or the lactose in a milk stout gives it a little extra body and creaminess, as does the nitrogen from a nitro pour.

I've been using @ when a user is online and the convocation is kinda flowing like a normal one would, and quoting when they're offline.

Me too, but I know dry stouts aren't for everyone. Beamish is my favorite of those traditional Irish stouts, but it's pretty hard to come by here.

 

Been really turning around on porters lately, Deschutes Black Butte porter has been my jam

Left Hand Milk Stout is great, one of my favorites

 

Oh yeah, Deschutes Obsidian Stout is relatively low too, though probably the highest of all those I've mentioned.

Definitely having a stout tonight now, although probably of the imperial variety because that's all I have.

 

I'll have to look out for Left Hand Milk Stout. Not sure I've ever had that one.

Reeeaaaallllly don't like Guinness, though. That's like the Bud Light of stouts to me. Very watery and dull. I tend not to love stouts out of cans, too.

I had the Obsidian Stout last weekend and that one way pretty decent. 6.4%, I think. Still, probably not something I'd buy a six of. But maybe it just didn't stand out that much because all of the other stouts I had last weekend (three Founders - KBS, Breakfast Stout, and Imperial, as well as Sinister Vertigo Imperial Stout from Oddside Ales) were really fantastic.

 

Milk Stouts and Sours are the two styles that still need to grow on me. I can't get around the low/no carbonation for a lot of the stouts, and I just haven't had many sours

 

I am also not a sour guy at all. Tried one around Thanksgiving and it was a struggle for me to finish it.

 

Sours are such a great category, and so many different types. Also, not for everyone haha

 

I'm going with "Smells Like Bean Spirit" an 8.5% breakfast stout with coffee and maple syrup from my friend's brewery, Mikerphone: Age Gate

 

Currently drinking a local Round Guys Peanut Butter stout. It's fine, nothing special

 

Just bought a bottle of Brooklyn's Improved Old Fashioned. A beer based on the cocktail. Looking forward to getting that in the fridge.

Drinking a Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Tropical IPA, it's really good.

I also had a Sweetwater Blue last night, it was nothing special. However it made me burp a bit and I could still taste the blueberry from it lol.

 

Tropical IPA sounds good. Blueberry burps? Eh . . . not so much!

 

I used to love Sweetwater Blue, but I find it to be a bit sweet these days. Their IPA and 420 are both really good though.

ugh i love flying dog so much, best maryland brewery hands down

 

Drinking my first psuedoSue now, and I'm loving it. Toppling Goliath started contract brewing in Lakeland so they distribute here now because of that. I've heard people say these aren't as good as the ones brewed in Iowa, and if that's true then I really need to get ahold of one of some because this is delicious.

Also, last night I had a Crank, Home Alone, and half of my wife's Cream and Sugar Please at Cycle. Crank is one of my favorite IPAs and Home Alone was fantastic. Cream and Sugar is probably my favorite porter out there. We saw Fenix TX and Unwritten Law and I had a Goose Island IPA and Coopertail Free Dive at the concert. Definitely drinking a lot better in there than I did the last time I saw either of those bands (which would have been about 15 years ago).
