Took this guy to a bottle share on Saturday night. What a treat this was. It's aged so nicely!

Had a Kuhennen Raspberry Eisbock and the Evil Twin Michigan Maple Jesus this last weekend. Both were phenomenal.

Raspberry Eisbock is one of the best beers I've ever had.

It was really incredible. So much flavor to it, it sucks how expensive a bottle is because I would drink so many haha

Just drank Julius, Alter Ego, and M-43. My box did not disappoint!

M-43 is quite good. Really impressed with what they're doing for a brewery that refused to make IPA's for their first 12 months of existence.

Sounds like I'll be traveling to Santa Barbara in May for work. Any beers I should be on the lookout to try there?

I wish I was able to get more than one bottle. That beer is so damn good.

I actually grew up there, my parents still live there so I visit often. Not a HUGE beer town yet, but getting there. The best area to visit is called the Funk Zone, it's downtown right near the ocean but slightly inland. It's mostly wine bars and wine tasting, but there's a brewery there called Figueroa Mountain. The beer is pretty mid-range to good, but the area itself is excellent. Also in the funk zone is a beer bar called Lama Dog that ha a pretty good selection. Pure Order is a pretty cool spot, it's out of someone's old garage and the beer is pretty solid.

Get into the Goleta area and M Special is the best brewery over there, there are a few other newer ones I don't know either.

Telegraph has been around probably the longest, and has some of the best beer. A bit on the outskirts of town, but worth it.

Lastly there is a brand new one called Third Window that has been getting a ton of hype, might actually be your best bet!

Other than that there's Captain Fattys, Santa Barbara Brew Co, The Brewhouse, Hollister Brewing and the Draughtsman.

I think I asked the same exact question last year, but people who have gotten Heady Topper before, am I really going to ruin the taste if I let it get it to room temp? not sure if I'll be able to keep it cold for a day and a half before I'm able to get home and put it in my fridge instead of just a cooler in my trunk.

Nah. So long as it isn't getting like 85+ degrees, it should be fine. Just don't have it fluctuate from 40 to 85 to 40 to 85 again. Light is more of a problem, but not with Heady, since it's canned.

If I could just forget it

I live in Santa Barbara and can confirm all of this. Lama dog is a great spot and they have really good food.

No, but like you I have heard great things. I'll give it a shot this weekend.

I almost want to recommend heading up to Buellton to go to Firestone Barrellworks for the sours but it's a bit of a drive. Telegraph has some good ones.

I absolutely love Barrellworks, but yes the drive is a bit much if Santa Barbara is the main point of the trip.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be there for around 2 days for an inspection, so anywhere outside of Santa Barbara unfortunately wouldn't happen

Been striking out on No Rules this week. Places near me either haven't gotten it, or sold out before I got off work.

Craft beer as a hobby sucks when you have a 7-4 job hah

My wife and I have friends coming to town this weekend. The guy likes good beer but doesn't know anything about beer. His wife doesn't like beer. I took it upon myself to prepare a nice selection of Florida (mostly Tampa Bay) beer of various styles for our weekend. Here's what I got:

    -Cigar City Jai Alai
    -Cigar City Tampa-Style Lager
    -Cigar City Florida Cracker
-Cycle Hazelnut Cream and Sugar, Please
-Cycle Lall Lall Goes to Hollywood IPA
    -Cycle The Bench IPA
    -Funky Buddha Last Snow
    -3 Daughters Beach Blonde
-Pair O' Dice Clearwater Honey Cream
-Barley Moe The Huntsman Red Ale
-Arkane Smells Like Pink Strawberry Gose

might try to find a bottle of Funky Buddha's MBCP, too. People really seem to dig that one. Can still find it around Orlando, so it could be a fun bottle for both of them.

I beat the drum for Off Color a lot but just had their ProCatsination collab w/ Perennial, Side Project, and Northdown and it was delightful. Also had a "beer-mosa", OJ w/ their Troublesome Gose yesterday and that was also lovely.
